Student Council
We are getting ready to begin an exciting year of service to our school and community! Would you like to be a part of this club?
Who can join? Any 6th, 7th, or 8th grade student
When do you meet? For this school year, we will meet after school beginning at 4:00. There will be monthly meetings and we will hold the same meeting a couple of days in case you can't make one.
Who gets to run for an office? Normally, it is the incoming 8th grade class. We did not get to hold elections last year in May, so we will run our elections this fall.
I was interested in running and am still interested in running for an office. What should I do next? If you are a current 8th grade student who has been a part of student council in the past, or you are new to our school, email Ms. Douglass and share what you are interested in running for. You can pick ONE office and they are: President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. I need to receive an email with this information from you by Friday, September 4 at 2:30. I will set up a Google Meet with you and explain our next steps.
So what next?
Want to join as a volunteer member of student council? Join our Google Classroom with this code: hhr3eqi
If you are an 8th grader running for office, send me an email with the required information by September 4 at 2:30 to douglass@ogschool.org.
From the Office
Please send any notes regarding your child to the Office's new email address: ogsofficestaff@ogschool.org
Whenever there is a change in your child's dismissal schedule, please send an email to ogsofficestaff@ogschool.org, as well as their teacher. For example, if your child rides the bus and you need to pick them up that day, we are asking you to copy the office on your email to the teacher. Please contact the Mr. Heckel if you have any questions.

Curriculum Corner
Hello Oak Grove Community,
Wednesday, September 2nd will be a Remote Planning Day for our teachers. All students Eagles@School and Eagles@Home will have no synchronous classes on this date. Instead of having synchronous instruction, students will complete any independent assignments/tasks from their teachers and they will also complete two assessments in iReady, one in reading and one in math. Each assessment will take approximately 45-60 minutes to complete. Some students may need a break and time to walk away from the assessment for a bit and that is okay. The assessment can be paused and pick-up right where they left off. While formal testing directions will be sent to you, here is a 6 minute video that will help you get a better understanding of how to help your child prepare for the assessments.
Things to note:
Provide your child a quiet place where they can concentrate
Have them take a break in between assessments
Tests can be paused if they need a break during the assessment
The assessment window is open throughout the day, there is no scheduled time to take the assessments - work with your schedule
Here’s the abridged version of the video: 2 minutes
Here’s the longer version of the video: 6 minutes
