The FISD eLearning plan is focused on facilitating an asynchronous eLearning model. Asynchronous learning allows groups of students to study independently at different times and locations from each other, without real-time communication taking place. Asynchronous eLearning is student-centered and provides more flexibility. The idea is that students can learn on any device, anywhere, anytime and on any browser.

Instructional Planning

Since eLearning will still occur during 4 day work weeks, updated plans are below:

• Due to the holiday on Monday, April 13th teachers will update their campus assignment template by noon on Tuesday, April 14th (for this week ONLY).
• Teachers will not work on any scheduled district holidays (April 10th and April 13th).

Virtual Office Hours

• Regular work hours for educators are 8:00-3:30 p.m. except for school holidays. Teachers will not work on the scheduled district holidays April 10th and April 13th.
• Virtual office hours for accessibility by others are:
• Monday - 1:00-3:00 p.m. (unless a holiday) then it shifts to Tuesday (no virtual office hours on Monday, April 13th)
• Tuesday - Friday - 9:00-11:00 a.m. and 1:00-3:00 p.m. unless Monday/Friday is a holiday (no virtual office hours on Friday, April 10th)

Student Submission of Work and Feedback

• The deadline for students to submit work is Sundays at 11:59 p.m. for each eLearning week.

Middle School

• Students should spend a maximum of 75 minutes on each class per week, except for 4 day weeks then it is a maximum of 45-60 minutes total lesson and work assigned.

High School Credit Courses at Middle School

• Students should spend a maximum of 120 minutes on each class per week, except for 4 day weeks then it is a maximum of 90 minutes total lesson and work assigned.

To access your student's lessons and assignments each week, please visit the Vandeventer Website. Once you have accessed our website, please follow these instructions:

1. Find the News Section on the homepage
2. Click on the eLearning tab (logo pictured above)
3. Find your student's teachers and click on their name
4. Follow the instructions provided for each day of learning

If you have trouble locating the teacher lesson plans, you may click on the link below for direct access.

All students should do the following during this week of e-Learning:

• Check the campus home page for access to teacher lesson plans (see instructions above)
• Click on the activities, lessons, and/or assignments that teachers have linked in their lesson plan via the eLearning tab on the campus website
• Follow all instructions
• Check school email for additional information
• Complete the assignments by Sunday at 11:59 p.m. (each week of learning)

Please know that the Vandeventer administration is working with the district leadership to determine an appropriate time for students to gather items from their lockers. At this time, students are not allowed to retrieve any personal items from school; however, we will continue to update our families should anything change. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

As you know, in-person instruction for Frisco ISD has been suspended through May 1, 2020, due to COVID-19. As a result, we have made the decision to cancel the Rough Riders 7th grade field trip. We know that you may have already paid for your student to attend this event, and we are working to credit your Online School Fees account. This credit will be processed automatically, and it is not necessary to contact us to request your money back. Please understand that Frisco ISD is in the process of cancelling hundreds of events, and it may take some time to issue your credit. We appreciate your understanding.

The money in your student's meal account will stay in the account for as long as you have a student enrolled in FISD and can be applied towards meals when we reopen. If you would like a refund, you may send an email to Vandeventer@Friscoisd.org, and allow up to 4 weeks processing time for the refund to occur.

Upon returning to school after the extended school closure, we will distribute yearbooks as originally planned during our end-of-the-year celebrations. In the event we do not return to school this school year, we will develop a process for yearbooks to be distributed to our families. More information will be forthcoming.

After receiving feedback from students, parents, and staff members, we have developed a one-stop-shop to assist our families in troubleshooting frequent issues that may arise during this extended school closure and the facilitation of the district's eLearning plan. • FCC agreement stating that providers will waive late fees, not cutoff service for lack of payment, and open hot-spots.
• Comcast COVID-19 response: offers free WiFi for 2 months to low income families plus all Xfinity hot-spots are free to the public during this time
• Charter Free Internet offer for 2 months
• AT&T COVID-19 response: offers open hot-spots, unlimited data to existing customers, and $10/month plans to low income families
• Verizon COVID-19 response: no special offers, but following the FCC agreement.
• Sprint COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, provides unlimited data to existing customers, and, starting Tuesday, 3/17/2020, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge (I expect others will follow).
• T-Mobile COVID-19 response: follows FCC agreement, plus unlimited data to existing customers, and, coming soon, will allow all handsets to enable hot-spots for 60 days at no extra charge (I expect others will follow).

The PTA needs volunteers to donate their time and talents to the Vandeventer PTA Board. This is a great chance to meet other parents, get to know the Vandeventer staff and faculty, and let us show you what makes our school the best middle school in Frisco!

The elected PTA Executive Board positions are:

President – Organizes and coordinates the overall activities of the association to reach its goals. Oversees all functions and programs of the VMS PTA.

1st VP Membership – Responsible for the recruitment of PTA membership, maintains existing membership, assists the president.

2nd VP/Ways and Means/Fundraising – Coordinates, oversees, and reports on the fundraising activities of the association.

Secretary – Maintains a written record of the activities of the association.

Treasurer – Maintains the financial records of the association.

8th Grade Parents

Liberty PTSA needs you! The Liberty Parent Teacher Student Association is seeking individuals who desire to support our school, students and teachers/staff in 2020-2021. We have several open roles due to two year term limits. Some of those open roles and the high level details are below.

President – oversight of board activities and meetings, liaison with school

Programs – bringing in outside speakers/activities that are engaging for our community (3x per year)

Membership – supports the marketing and sign up of memberships for PTSA

Parliamentarian – insures the PTSA follows rules, guidelines and bylaws

Senior parent committee – this is committee within the PTSA collaborating with Senior Chair on all senior related activities

Junior parent chair – Should there be class specific activities this person manages that but also shadowing of the senior committee chair for preparation for the Senior parent role (following year)

Sophomore Parent Chair – Should there be class specific activities this person manages that

Freshmen Parent Chair – Should there be class specific activities this person manages that
