CENTRAL NEWSLETTER NOVEMBER
2023

PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
Students have been working hard over the past month in their classes and extracurricular activities. A number of memorable moments include Grade 3 Students learning about reusing everyday items that often are tossed out and sent to landfills. Many of Mrs. Edey’s music Students have been learning to play ukuleles. Grade 2 Students were applying their understanding of natural and man made things to Indigenous culture. Grade 7 Students were making all kinds of things in Foods (most interesting was zucchini fries!). The Grade 7/8 Volleyball Girls took Gold “candy” in Killam at a tournament. Archery has been busy preparing for competitions. So many things to speak about! Our commitment to Academics, Fine Arts and Athletics is clear but so is our commitment to Wellness. On October 18, 2023 Jeremy Allen came to CHSPS and talked to Grades 9-12 Flagstaff Students (CHSPS, KPS and Forestburg) about grief and loss. It was an informative and emotional morning but necessary for building a positive mindset for dealing with difficult topics like grief and loss. There is an upcoming break between November 11-19, 2023 (school resumes November 20, 2023) so I wish everyone well during some well deserved time away from school. It is a great time to rest and rejuvenate. Thank you to all our Families for the ongoing support you provide Staff and Students at Central!

APPROVED DRIVER INFORMATION
It is the time of year when approved driver documents are required by the school division to be updated. A reminder that if you wish to transport children other than your own to and from school events (i.e., extracurricular sports, field trips, etc.) you need to provide a copy of your license as well as a current driver abstract consent and proof of 2 million liability from your insurance company to the school. This information is sent to division office where it is reviewed and potentially approved (which takes approximately two weeks). If approved, you will be added to a list of approved drivers and this status is good until the same time the following year. Thank you for your patience, cooperation and ongoing support with this division wide procedure.
Here are the forms needed for approval.

2023-24 VERIFICATION FORMS

To access and complete this form you will need to log into the PowerSchool parent portal via your Web browser (Google Chrome for example. You will not be able to complete this process on the App).
