Welcome to our CTS Snapshot - a weekly celebration update. We are delighted to share with parents and carers alike student triumphs at Corby Technical School. We are proud of every student and every success they have - please feel free to share with us any achievements they might have.

Remembrance Day:
Our CCF students have led assemblies this week in honour of Remembrance Day and on the 11th we joined together as a school community to honour those who gave their lives for our country.

Year 10 English:

Subject Highlights:
English:
Mrs Rice would like to say well done to Year 11 for their conduct and efforts in their English mock.
Miss Magnay would like to say well done to Year 11 Literature and Language groups who sat their mock exams this week! 10A1 have been completing some fantastic creative writing and poetry analysis, some examples of these are pictured above.
Mrs Brown has nominated Year 10 students Ella, Corina,, Dylan C, Robert, Maciej and Myrtle who attended our new academic writing club. You really impressed Mrs Brown with your knowledge.
Also, thank you to Year 12 Literature students Carmen C, Shay D and Sacro who supported with the Sixth Form Open Event.
Maths:
Miss Kaur has nominated 7TU for their great effort and attitude to learning in Maths!
Mr Horne has nominated Year 9 students Nana, Sandra, Leoni, Antoni, Emily, Mihai and Kyle for their excellent approach to the understanding of factorising quadratic expressions.
Humanities:
Mr Hallas would like to nominate 7CA/Hu and 7TA/Hu for a wonderful last lesson on their first topic of Year 7, a ‘Geography Road Trip’. The focus of the lesson was on the EU and the contributions were impressive. In particular, a massive well done to Conner, Tillie and Archie in 7CA and Neve, Markuss, Luke and Laura in 7TA.
Music:
Year 7:
7TU have made a brilliant start to their unit on sea shanties over the last two lessons. Miss Patrick was especially impressed with their ability to work well in groups and their enthusiasm for singing – keep up the great work!
Year 8:
This week Judah and Eva in 8CO made excellent progress on the ukulele – not only were they moving fluidly between chords but they also accurately played a complex strumming pattern.
Year 9:
9CO used a wide range of instrumental sounds to create leitmotif for a chosen character this week. Miss Patrick was particularly impressed with the attention to detail used in compositions to really convey their ideas about a character. Bella really showed her ability to mix different sounds together to make a cohesive piece – excellent work!
DT/ Art/Food and Nutrition:
Mr Harley has nominated Year 10 Engineering students Oscar C and Raivo who are making excellent progress with their team building remote grabber project. Also nominated are Year 10 students Gabriela and Szymon who are making great progress with their folding table project in DT.
Mrs Morgan has nominated Year 10 students Cameron B, Emma P, Ellis C, Nikola K, Ana L and Jolanta who are making excellent progress and working hard in Art. Also Year 9 students Harrison, Ainars, Gabby, Dylan, Ashley, Shanice, Todd, Harry and Ellis who have produced excellent ideas for their War art project.
Mrs Firmin would like to say well done to her Year 7 classes who have had their first taste of food lesson’s this week, and showed great promise with their knife skills. Mrs Firman was also impressed with their enthusiasm for apple tasting!
In DT Year 9 have showed great determination and perseverance marking out their wood for the ‘Bits and Bob’s boxes’. So particularly hard working students have also started cutting their wood. In particular Zsofia 9SW has work exceptionally hard.
Science:
Scientists of the Week are:
Year 7 student Neve S for amazing work and questions about electricity.
Year 8 student Leyton S for amazing work in Science.
Year 9 student Phoebe for amazing contributions in Science.
Year 10 student Cameron B for great consistent effort in every Science lesson since Term 2
Year 11 student Tye for great effort in Physics over the last few weeks.
Sixth Form:
It has been a busy week in Sixth Form with the start of the Term 2 and Term 3 placements for the ‘Enrichment and Personal Development’ programme. Mr Hallas been really impressed with the range of activities Year 12 have signed up for including: supporting younger students with their reading, Year 7 maths support, science support, library internship, external work experience, sixth form newsletter and running a co-curricular club to name a few. This will help our Year 12 students develop those all-important employability skills, whilst making an important contribution to the school community.
On Tuesday we hosted our second Sixth Form Open Evening, and it was wonderful to see so many families at the event. As with any open evening it is important that parents and students can hear from our current sixth formers and Mr Hallas would like to use this opportunity to say thank you to Shay, Ana, Jack, Carmen, Ewan , Sacro and Morgan, who shared their experiences on the subjects they study at Corby Technical School at the recent Sixth Form Open event.
MFL:
Miss Graziano has nominated her Year 11 students who attended Spanish support on Tuesday after school, Miss Graziano was incredibly impressed by their hard work and dedication.
