From the Principal
Ranger Patrons,
Raymond Park extends congratulations to students that made our Term 3 Academic Honor Rolls. An outstanding achievement during any school year, the challenges connected to this year's pandemic make this accomplishment particularly noteworthy - CONGRATULATIONS!
RP's PTSA sponsored a presentation last week from a division of the State Police Division on Internet Crimes Against Children. The presentation included a short video about a mother that goes undercover as a teenager on social media and how quickly she is approached by a child predator -In short, the prevalence and tactics of internet predators was concerning! Caregivers who would like to view this video and have access to supporting resources should contact Dr. Kleine through response to the email carrying this newsletter.
Students will have an opportunity to learn about the dangers of the internet for children through social studies classes this week as a presenter from the Internet Crimes Against Children, a division of the Indiana State Police, will be having a presentation geared for teens on the importance of internet safety and the dangers associated with internet behavior.
MSD Warren Township would love to hear YOUR thoughts on how we’re doing with health and safety measures, communication, and family needs. Please take a few minutes to complete this survey open now through March 29.
Now, more than ever, we need to honor and recognize the great work of Warren Township teachers! Here’s your chance to recognize an exemplary Warren teacher. The week of May 3rd is Teacher Appreciation Week! To celebrate teachers, Warren Arts & Education Foundation is doing fun giveaways for the entire week. Your favorite teacher can win $100 and other fun giveaways. Submit your nomination on or before April 2.
Proud to be a Ranger,
John Kleine
Principal
Rewrites/Reruns:
Term 3 Grades are available for review on ParentVue and StudentVue portals. In recognition of the difficult circumstances that students and schools are facing during the pandemic, "NG" (No Grade) marks have been entered for content classes in place of a failing grade. District philosophy and the impact of NG can be found In the December 13 edition of the Ranger News.
MSD Warren's modified, 1-week spring break is scheduled to occur the week of March 29. Two full weeks of school remain before spring break, and this weekend's time change is sure to have an impact on our adolescent's schedule! The effects of daylight savings time on children have been studied with significant impacts being found in adolescents. Though MSD Warren's 9am start time for middle level schools is within the recommendations provided by authorities, this article provides caregivers with other considerations to help mitigate the harmful effects of sleep deprivation: Effects of Daylight Savings Time: Wake Up Call for Sleep Debt in Teens.
Term 4 Materials Pick-up for virtual students may occur daily in the main office during regular school hours, 9am-4pm.
Safety. RP will continue to follow the SAFE Reopening Plan to better ensure everyone's safety during the pandemic. Students are reminded that face masks and social distancing are required. Frequent handwashing and sanitizing will also be scheduled into the daily schedule. Recent updates from health officials discourage the use of face shields as a replacement for face masks. All MSD of Warren Township staff and students should wear face masks unless an extenuating circumstance exists and a face shield is needed. School administrators may approve the use of a face shield in these cases.
Students should not attend school if they are close contacts to a positive Covid case, are awaiting results of a Covid test or exhibit two or more of the following: ● A fever of 100.0° F or greater ● Cough ● Shortness of breath or difficulty breathing ● Sore throat ● Fatigue ● Chills ● Muscle or body aches ● Headache ● Congestion or runny nose ● Nausea or vomiting ● Diarrhea ● New loss of taste or smell.
