• Today you will complete your Lesson 13 Writing Assignment
• This is a 2 page assignment. Be sure to submit both pages.
• To complete this assignment, print out the worksheet and fill in the worksheet
• Please use a pencil (in case you make a mistake and need to erase it!)
• You can submit your completed worksheet by scanning or taking a photo of it.
• If you take a photo, check the photo to make sure everything on the worksheet is visible and can be read before submitting it. If I can't read it, I can't give you credit for the assignment! :(

This week you will need to have a partner to do your Lesson 13 speaking assignment. You will need to sign up to get a partner TODAY.

To sign up go to Course Modules > Module 5 > Lesson 13 > M5. L13. Assignment 13.1: Speaking > Speaking Assignment Partner Sign Up Wiki (This is the 2nd link down)

You will need to post your name and a way for your partner to contact you when you sign up.

If you see someone signed up as partner 1 with out a partner 2, put yourself down to be that person's partner and contact your partner using the contact info they posted.

Do not sign up to be Partner 1 unless there are no people listed without a Partner 2.

Having a partner for this assignment is part of your grade. You must make an effort to find a partner and be a good partner to the person you are working with this week.

Contact me if you're having trouble finding a partner or your partner is being unresponsive.

いま なんじ です か。 can be used to ask “What time is it?” How can you answer that question in Japanese?

Use じ after each hour when saying what time it is in Japanese.

じ is kind of like saying o'clock, but unlike in English where we only say o'clock right on the hour, じ is used all the time when telling time.

Note that the numbers with the red * after them are irregular.

To say “minutes” in Japanese we either use ぷん or ふん depending on how many minutes after it is. You will probably need to memorize these. Flashcards are helpful for this. ^_^

Using ぷん or ふん will depend on the last digit of the time. So for example, 9:03 would be said with くじ さんぷん using ぷん because さんぷん (three minutes) uses ぷん as its ending.

For numbers like :18 or :27 or :35, just add the regular number for ten (じゅう), twenty (にじゅう), thirty (さんじゅう) etc. before saying the number with ぷん or ふん depending on which number you want to say.

So 10:18 would be じゅうじ じゅう はっぷん 9:27 would be くじ にじゅう ななふん and to say “It is 4:35.” you would say よじ さんじゅう ごふん です。

Telling time can be a little tricky because there are lots of things to memorize. Keep at it, it will sink in with practice.

I got an email from Mason R. last weekend letting me know that he just got his driver's license! Congratulations Mason! Enjoy yourself driving on the roads and be safe while driving.

The last time I drove though NC I drove through some of the thickest fog I've ever seen. I learned from a state trooper that the best thing to do when driving through fog is to roll down your window and turn your radio off. If there is an accident ahead of you, you may be more likely to hear the sound before you can see anything. I hope this little driving tip helps you the next time you drive through fog. :)
