Essex County Newark Tech - Jenabu C. Williams, Principal
October 2023
Dear Parents and Guardians,
I hope this message finds you in good health and high spirits. As we embark on another exciting chapter here at Essex County Schools of Technology - Newark Tech, I wanted to share some inspiring updates and highlights from our school community from last month.
First and foremost, I am incredibly proud of our dedicated and talented students who continue to shine inside and outside the classrooms. Their hard work, determination, and creativity never fail to amaze us. We have witnessed remarkable achievements, not just academically but also in various extracurricular activities, sports, and community service initiatives. Our students' enthusiasm and passion are truly inspiring, setting a positive example for their peers and reminding us of the limitless potential within every one of them.
I also want to express my gratitude to our exceptional team of educators and staff members at Newark Tech. Their unwavering commitment to nurturing our students' intellectual curiosity, fostering a supportive learning environment, and encouraging personal growth is commendable. Together, we are shaping the future leaders and innovators of tomorrow.
Furthermore, our school continues to foster a culture of inclusivity, acceptance, and kindness. We are dedicated to providing a safe and nurturing space where every child feels valued, respected, and empowered to be their authentic selves. Our ongoing efforts in promoting diversity and embracing differences are fundamental to creating a harmonious and enriching educational experience for all.
In the coming weeks, we have exciting plans and initiatives lined up, including our school Fall Pep Rally, Hispanic Heritage performance, and my State of Newark Tech Address that will take place on the 100th day of appointment as Principal. I invite you to stay engaged with our school community by attending parent-teacher meetings, school events, and volunteering opportunities. Your partnership is invaluable, and together, we can continue to provide our students with a well-rounded education that prepares them for a bright and promising future.
On behalf of Vice Principal Jannah and I, we thank you for entrusting us with the education and well-being of your children. We are genuinely privileged to be a part of their educational journey. We wish you all a wonderful and inspiring academic year ahead.
Warm regards,
Jenabu C. Williams, MPA, M.Ed

Dad's and Donuts
Newark Tech Dads & Donuts inaugural session
As the responses to the question, what do you enjoy most and what are some of the frustrations with being a father began to populate the message board in real time, we quickly realized we all love being a father and struggle with ways to establish deep connections with our children at times. We are more alike then we realize. I was able to give the men a few pointers on ways to stay connected to your child academically and how to ask open-ended questions to engage your child at the end the school day. We were honored to have my Brother and friend, Shelton Prescott who’s been an educator in Paterson for 27 years in attendance. Mr. Prescott provide some impromptu words of wisdom about the importance of community mentors and the impact father figures can have on young men.
The post workshop survey data let me know that 100% of the fathers in attendance had a great time and are looking forward to meeting on a monthly basis. I’m so excited about what we accomplished today because educational research states that when Fathers are actively engaged in their child’s education, children are 48% more likely to be on the honor roll. If that’s true (which it is) then we are truly up to something here at Newark Tech.. #LetsGoo #NewarkTech #TechWay #FathersMatter #CommunityConversations #ConnectionOverContent #ForTheLoveOfOurChildren #LeadershipMatters #ProudPrincipal JCW
American Cancer Society Breast Cancer Walk
This annual walk allows us to honor family members that may have been impacted by cancer and to live out our core values. We also donated $750 to this worthy cause on behalf of the Newark Tech Family.. #LetsGoo #NewarkTech #TechWay #BreastCancerWalk #ChiSigmaChapter #CultureForService #ServiceForHumanity JCW
✨Hispanic Heritage Month Celebrations✨
We had an AMAZING time during the @essexcountyschoolsoftechnology - Newark Tech Hispanic Heritage Multi-Cultural Parade today. The NT Administration led our students, faculty, and staff from the first floor, up to the fourth floor, and through the hallways as our students from different countries wore their traditional ethnic garments and danced to the latest bachata beats!
It was refreshing to see our scholars embrace our diversity knowing that inclusivity is at the core of who we are as Terriers. When we are inclusive of those from different backgrounds, races, and religions, we build understanding instead of hate. BIG shout out to Ms. Mellakh, Ms. Zayas, and the entire programming committee for organizing this for our our family. Happy Hispanic Heritage Month to all our Terriers! #NewarkTech #TechWay #InclusivityAndDiversity #HispanicHeritageMonth #ConnectionOverContent #PrincipalWilliams #VPJannah #ExcellenceAndHumility JCW
