Take Home Tuesday

Thank you to everyone who was a part of Comedy & Cuisine this past weekend. We raise over 70K for the playground which is a GREAT start! We are so thankful for the time, talent, treasure, and dedication to all of the individuals who were a part of making the night so fun and successful. Special thanks to the following:

Special thanks to Molly Neuman and Maura Niederee. On top of working a full time job, in the middle of the pandemic, they worked with Candice (full time mom and ringmaster in her own home) to put on the greatest show on earth. It was an amazing night that brought it funds for the greatest kids on earth. Thank you Molly, Maura, and Candice!

We are still looking for a PreKindergarten and 3rd grade teacher for next year. With Becky Petersen moving up to 4th grade (PreK opening) and Hannah Mueller moving to Texas to continue teaching (3rd grade) we are looking for excellent replacements for both of them. Over the weekend, Elizabeth Loehr (MS Reading) accepted an assistant principal position at St. Wenceslaus. This means we are also looking for a middle school reading teacher.

I am confident many of you are seeing how challenging it has been for teachers these past years in other districts and states. I cannot tell you how amazing our community has been to our school and teachers through the pandemic. The fact that almost all of our teachers are leaving our school for other opportunities outside of teaching speaks to this. Teachers are not leaving St. Cecilia to find another school (except Ms. Mueller)! We never once had the situations seen in other school board meetings, emails bullying administration or staff, or the negative discourse regarding masks/vaccines/etc. I tell people all the time (and I mean it) how amazing our community has been with the support and dedication to our school.

We will definitely miss all the teachers who are leaving next year:

Mrs. Niederee (K) - staying home with her kids

Ms. Bost (1st) - pursuing Masters degree full-time at UNO

Mrs. Humpal (2nd) - staying home with kids

Ms. Mueller (3rd) - new Catholic school teaching job in Texas

Mr. Brown (5th) - pursuing new career in real estate and family advocate

Ms. Carranza (5th) - pursuing new teaching opportunities

Mrs. Loehr (MS Reading) - pursuing administration at St. Wenc

Please pray for each of these individuals as they pursue a new journey next year. As mentioned above, we are looking for PreK, 3rd, and MS Reading applicants. We have some interviews this week and will continue to look for the right individuals for our kids and community. We are also working with the Catholic Schools Office to contract a special education teacher for next year. Please see the following job description:

St. Cecilia is looking for a special education to provide contracted services to students who qualify for services. This is a part-time position and requires a Nebraska state licensed special educator. If you are interested in this exciting and rewarding position, contact Tracey Kovar, Asst. Thank you to Molly Anderson for putting together this year's school yearbook. Molly is the mother of Penelope (8th), Lucy (6th), Felicity (3rd), Oliver (2nd), and Gabe (1st) and she also is the amazing musician who plays at our school Masses sometimes.
