Family Newsletter
May 22, 2023
As hard as it is for us to believe, we are less than one month from our last day of the 2022-23 school year! What a great year we have had and with so much still to look forward to in our final weeks!
This month we welcomed our incoming 6th grade parents and began visiting 5th grade classrooms to answer students' questions about the MMS experience. We are getting ready, although it is bittersweet, to send our wonderful 8th grade class onward and upward to MHS.
For our returning students and incoming 6th graders, we are excited about a new opportunity for next year. Our school schedule for next year will include a 7 period day. Students will see all of their teachers, in all of their courses, 5 days a week for the same amount of time each day. In place of their current Activity Block, we will be enrolling students in exploratory courses that align with content standards in the 4 core subjects. Students in 6th and 7th grade will be able to choose band, chorus or any of the 4 enrichment courses taught by their team teachers. Students in 8th grade next year will get to choose band, chorus, art, Spanish or any of the 4 enrichment courses taught by team teachers. Students will be able to let us know of their preferences in the following week!
We want to thank our MMS families for their ongoing support of our school. We sincerely thank you for all you do to further our mission, and we wish you a wonderful close to the year.
Best wishes,
Mrs. Grantham and Mrs. Troiano
