Dear Parents/Guardians:

We are so excited to welcome you to the 2021-2022 school year at Hatherly! We will be hosting “Expectations Night” on Tuesday, September 14th. It is intended to be an informative evening and an opportunity for you to meet your child’s teacher. Teachers will be providing information about their grade level and giving families a glimpse into your child’s home away from home. The evening will be broken into three sessions. Each session will be twenty minutes long. This will allow for more space in the classrooms. Families should remain together throughout the evening. Please do not allow students to explore the building independently. Due to the format of the night and the limited space in classrooms, please do not plan on visiting previous teachers.

In order to keep the number of people in classrooms small, we ask that you make every effort to attend during your allotted time:

Student Last Names Beginning with A-F : 6 - 6:20 pm

Student Last Names Beginning with G-M: 6:25- 6:45 pm

Student Last Names Beginning with N-Z: 6:50 - 7:10 pm

We encourage all families to attend the assigned times. However, if you have a unique situation where you are not able to adhere to the time above, please reach out to your child’s teacher so they are aware. Please note, for privacy and confidentiality of all students, any questions specific to your child are certainly welcomed; however, you are encouraged to reach out to your child’s teacher via phone or email to set up an appointment.

Dear Band Families,

Welcome to 5th grade band! We are excited to announce that group lessons and band will be starting next week! Please come to school with your instruments and music ready to make some beautiful noise! We will be following similar safety guidelines as last year. Students will be required to wear a mask and use bell covers (for trumpet, trombone, saxophone, and clarinet) and remain 3 ft. apart at all times. We will provide students with these materials on the first day if needed. Please see below for your lesson/band days and the invitation to join our Google Classroom. This is all you’ll need to get started - your classroom teachers will post your lesson schedules in your classrooms. As always, feel free to reach out with any questions. We are looking forward to seeing everybody next week!

As we close on the first week of school we are still working out some kinks in our dismissal procedures. At this time, we are going to dismiss buses as they arrive first and then car riders as as a group. Walkers will be dismissed last. Please remember do not park in the lower parking lot for dismissal. Thank you for your corporation as we navigate through dismissal!

This month we we will be celebrating the them of LOVE. During our whole school PBIS meeting fifth graders, Hailey Bacon and Reid Seward, introduced Mrs. Ward, Mrs. Franke, and Mrs. Dempsey who talked about spreading love across the Hatherly School.

If your student does performs an act of kindness that spreads love at home during the month of September and you want us to share a smile with them during announcements, please email a couple of sentences to Mrs. Flaherty or Mrs. Piatelli.

Picture day is this Tuesday, September 14, 2021. Order forms have been sent home. Please fill them out and have your child bring them to school with them on Tuesday to give to the photographer. OR you may order your package online at mylifetouch.com with our school ID EVTN7BB42.

Our amazing custodial staff consisting of; Lorrie Bartlett, Bob Stafford, and Doug Tolman outdid themselves over the summer! Our school is shining bright because of them! Lorrie, our veteran head custodian, lead our new custodians, Bob and Doug, with dedication and high expectations and you can see all their efforts. Together they make a great team and we are so lucky to have Lorrie, Bob, and Doug in our Hatherly community.

Lunches are free again this year!

Can you please send your child to school with a set of headphones they can leave in their classrooms. Thank you!
