The first full week of school was a success! The students are working hard to learn the routines and procedures - dismissal is getting quicker each day. The students did a great job at our first assembly - our special guests were impressed and raved about the students' kindness.

We look forward to seeing everyone Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at our Parent Orientation and Title 1 Information Night. Childcare for enrolled students will be provided in the Fine Arts room from 4:30-6:30.

• Use both lanes when entering the school drive and merge upon staff direction.
• Pull all the way forward to help maximize the number of cars able to unload at a time.
• For safety, students should only exit the car onto the curb.
  
• If your child needs extra time or support exiting the car, pull all the way forward and a staff member will assist you.
• If the adult dropping off needs to exit the car please park.
• When walking students into the building please cross at the crosswalk.

• Please pull up to the front of the line when in the PreK-2nd grade line. This will allow us to load as many cars as possible.
• Please hang up your Car Rider Pro tag on the mirror. Having your Car Rider tag helps speed up the line.

Welcome back to school! I am so excited to be at Bertram Elementary this year! I have been a School Counselor for the past 4 years and am looking forward to continuing to serve Bertram students. I have made working with children my life’s mission as this will be my 31st year in Education!

Next week, I will be introducing myself to your students. I want them to know that my job is to support them with their academic and personal development. If a concern arises, or if they are just needing some support, your student can request to visit with me by talking to their teacher. You, the parent, can also let me know of any concerns by emailing or phone.

Grandparents (or Special Adults) are invited to enjoy stories and snacks on Monday, September 11, 2023. One ticket will allow multiple attendees to sign in at the gate on the pavilion. Anyone arriving without an event ticket will be asked to sign in at the office with their photo ID before joining the event in the Library.

Pre-K - 11:45-12:35

Kinder - 1:25-2:15

1st Grade - 2:15-3:05

2nd Grade - 10:20-11:10

3rd Grade - 8:40-9:30

4th Grade - 9:30-10:20

5th Grade - 7:45-8:35

For those with multiple students you can attend each student's individual Activity time or you can select one time and we will get all of the students to you.

We request that students not be signed out at the end of the event and remain at school for an important day of learning. Thank you!

Your child's safety is always our first priority at Bertram Elementary. Each year we practice our response to a variety of emergency situations including fire, inclement weather, and lockdown. Our first fire drill will be on Wednesday, August 30, 2023 weather permitting. The date has been updated since the last communication.

Weather and Lockdown drills will be conducted in September.

We are excited to welcome visitors who have an appointment with teachers or staff or who would like to eat lunch beginning Monday, August 21st. Please check in at the office and bring your valid photo ID. Each time you visit campus you must present your valid photo ID.

For those visiting for lunch, please let the office know who you will be eating with. Please sit at the round table near the train mural. Your student will join you there. Visitors may not eat at the classroom table. Cafeteria seating is limited. Overflow seating will be available outside on the pavilion, if needed.

Beginning August 21st, parents wishing to walk a student to class will need to check in at the office and present a photo ID. The front office opens at 7:25am. Parents may walk their child to class from 7:25 am until 7:39am. At 7:40am, our instructional day begins.

Skyward Family Access Portal gives you the tools to be more informed, connected, and involved in your child’s education. Through the portal you have access to the following resources:

For students in grades 2nd-5th, you as a parent can set up notifications for when grades fall below certain thresholds. By clicking My Messages > Settings you can subscribe/unsubscribe to messages regarding attendance, grading, and assignment notifications.

For student safety, our YMCA pick up is located at the side door that faces Main Street. Parking is available after 3:45 pm in the parking lot near the cafeteria at the corner of Main and North Streets. Please reference the map. Please use the YMCA Curbside Text System to alert staff that you have arrived.

Women's Independence Day is August 26th. Women’s Independence Day commemorates the ratification in 1920 of the Nineteenth Amendment to the United States Constitution, which guaranteed women the right to vote.
