PRINCIPAL'S NOTE
Happy June 1st! We've had a beautiful stretch of weather, which really makes us think of summer. We have many fun activities to look forward to as we wrap up the school year. Tomorrow, students will be tie-dying shirts in preparation for field day, which will be held on June 14th and kicks off spirit week. On Monday, June 5th, we will have a very special presentation for students called the Whalemobile. As you will recall, this is made possible because of their Read-a-Thon fundraising efforts. I will share more about the details of the event in next week's log.
There are so many things happening this month! Including, on June 7th, the Morse High School graduate parade. This event is a highlight for staff, when we get to see how mature and successful our former students have become. Please remember to read the Explorer's Log and your child's classroom newsletter carefully, so you don't miss any of the other events.
Finally, you may have noticed the construction on our roof. The roof is being replaced by a company called Hahnel Brothers Company.
We elected to start the project in May, when our routines are familiar to students, so that it will be completed by September when new kindergarten students return to school. Dennis Ouellette, RSU1 Facilities Director has met with HBC officials to ensure that all applicable safety procedures are in place and that the project runs smoothly. If you have any questions, please reach out to me at sgorsuch-plummer@rsu1.org or Mr. Ouellette at douellette@rsu1.org.
LATE START WEDNESDAYS REMINDER
Remember Late Start Wednesdays are back! Starting June 7th, school starts at 9:25AM on Wednesdays, and buses will be 1 hour later than M,T,Th,&F on the morning pick up (afternoon drop off time does not change). There are no more Great Start activities.
ART NEWS
REMINDER:
Friday, June 2nd is Tie-Dye Day! All classes, Pre-K-5, will be creating a one-of-a-kind shirt! Please send a white, cotton shirt labeled with your child's name to school by Friday. I do have some extra shirts for students who are unable to bring one in. Please let me know. Mrs. Polizotto, email: rpolizotto@rsu1.org.
LIBRARY NEWS
Another school year is coming to an end, and the library is gathering all materials that have been signed out by students and staff. Parents can help by assisting their children in locating and returning library books to school. Students will not be able to borrow library books after June 2nd. All books are due back to school by June 9th. Thank you for your help and support.
