Hyatt's Updates August-September
Office Greetings
Dear Hyatt Elementary Families,
Welcome to a new year of learning at Hyatt Elementary School. Anticipation levels are running high as we eagerly await the excitement and positive energy that comes with your children! Through everything we have faced as a learning community; our commitment to learning, creating, and succeeding remains evident. Diligence, character, partnership, care, and grit could all be used to describe the efforts of our school community and especially our Hyatt children as they continue to meet the high bar of standards we set each year. Hyatt students truly S.O.A.R!
As you are busy wrapping up your summer plans in preparation for the upcoming school year to begin on Monday August 21, 2023, please take a few moments to read over this informational newsletter to get more information and specific procedures.

Food Service Updates
Michigan lawmakers have approved the state's fiscal year 2024 budget, which includes universal free meals at school. That means that all students in our district are eligible to receive breakfast and lunch through our Food Services department at no cost. Although we are providing universal free breakfast and lunch, it is still important that you complete the Summer EBT and Education Benefits Application. The information submitted on the Summer EBT and Education Benefits Application is also used to determine qualification for other services as well as additional financial relief. We encourage all families that may qualify to complete an application using the link below.
Food Service is also looking for energetic people that love kids. If you are looking for a part time job that would fit into your child’s school schedule, this job is for you! For more information call Michele Lubahn at 810-591-0435.
Student Safety
We will also continue to practice our safety drills. Each scenario is designed to provide the children and staff opportunities to familiarize themselves with their roles and responsibilities during an emergency. As in the past, we will revisit fire, severe weather, and lock down drills throughout the year. Our efforts will be coordinated with our school resource officer, Officer Williams. Teachers may practice at any time and we will begin our formal building drills the week of August 28th.

Communication
Visitors and Volunteers
Volunteering at Hyatt Elementary is encouraged, as your time and efforts are greatly appreciated! All volunteers must have a background check completed before they may volunteer. If you are wanting to volunteer, you can pick up an ICHAT form in the office. Please remember photographs of other children are not permitted. If you have any questions or concerns, please share them with a staff member.
Transportation
Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures
Students are to be dropped off in the front loop no earlier than 8:20 am until school begins at 8:34 am. Please do not park your car in the one-way loop; this is for moving traffic only. If you choose to walk your child to the front entrance, please park in the parking lot and use the crosswalk to the front of the school. Argentine Elementary houses Linden’s Eagle Club before and after school program for a minimal fee. If you need daycare for your student before 8:20 am, please call Argentine Elementary at (810) 591-0328.
Student dismissal is at 3:42 PM. Car pick up is the only option for students not riding the bus. If you need to make a transportation change, please contact the office before 3:00 pm. Due to the busyness at the end of the day, we can not guarantee changes will be made after that time.
Car Pick Up - Parents must pick up a “Parent Transport Card” from the office before a child will be released to them during dismissal. These cards will also be available at our Open House and must be visible/displayed in your vehicle. We ask that parents/guardians in the pick up/drop off line stay in their cars. This is for your convenience and helps us create an efficient and safer process. School staff will personally greet you and help your child get in your car.
All students who ride the bus, will be put on the bus at the end of the day unless they have established a regular, consistent parent/guardian pick up routine or you have sent a note to the teacher/office ahead of time. All changes must be made by 3:00 pm to ensure communication can take place. These procedures are in place for the safety of all of our students.
