Cooler Temps Are Here- Check the Lost & Found

Cooler temps are predicted in the forecast! Please be sure your Mountain Lion has all his/her jackets and sweaters labeled. This helps us when items land in the Lost & Found! Speaking of Lost and Found, please remind your child to go by the Lost & Found (located across from the cafeteria (by the student restrooms). A plethora of jackets, hoodies, sweaters, and lunchboxes/water bottles are waiting to be claimed. If you are coming to eat lunch with your child, we encourage you to stop by the Lost & Found to look for any missing items!

SEL Love Your Brain Week is Coming

Love Your Brain week is coming October 24th! During this week, we learn about ways to improve the physical, mental, and emotional health for all students, staff, and members of the educational community. To make this an interactive and fun event, there will be a theme each day of the week.

Support APEX & Mills

Our school wide fundraiser will be starting October 25!. The fundraiser aims to have students collect pledges/donations from friends and family members for running laps at the school wide Fun Run on campus November 4 (Parents/caregivers invited).

Why is this fundraiser important for Mills? Many of the instructional programs, resources, and extras that go into elevating student learning and bolstering teacher/staff support is not funded through the school district. The money is used to go toward teachers’ classrooms and campus educational resources for our school. The funds this year will go towards but will not be limited to: learning materials/resources for students for enrichment/intervention from PreK through 5th grade, funding for additional time for teachers to plan during professional learning with teams/departments, flexible seating options in classrooms, and a sensory/calming room for students and staff.

Our students and staff support APEX, and we hope you will support this important fundraiser!

Learn About: Kelso's Choices

One tool teachers and staff use to teach conflict management skills for students from PreK through 5th grade is Kelso's Choices. This tool allows students to understand the difference between big and little problems. It also helps empower students with problem solving strategies to use during moments of conflict. If you are interested in learning more about Kelso's Choices, reach out to our Mills counselors, Ms. Whatley and Ms. Edwards!
