In general, the start time for each position is about one hour prior to the varsity game start time. Positions are paid hourly and are on a timesheet.

The Knights would love for you to see them at their games and cheering them on! Go Knights!!

We have implemented a new process for approving volunteers in the District.

In the past, the link to apply to be a volunteer was prominent on our website and anybody could apply - but we didn't necessarily have a volunteer opportunity for all applicants. This led to potential volunteers feeling frustrated, and the District spending time and money processing volunteer applications for people who may or may not have ended up volunteering.

If you would like to have volunteers serving in your classroom or for an event or activity, please follow these steps.

1. Talk to your principal and get their approval to use volunteers for your classroom, project or event.

2. If you have a volunteer in mind, provide provide the name, email and phone number of your potential volunteers to your school's volunteer coordinator. Not sure who that is? Check here.

3. Your school's volunteer coordinator will 1) submit required information to HR to let them know these individuals are "pre-approved" by your principal; and 2) will send a link to a web page with step-by-step instructions for potential volunteers to follow to complete the approval process.

4. If you do NOT have specific volunteers in mind you can talk to your volunteer coordinator to see if there are any approved volunteers who might be a good fit. OR you can submit our volunteer request form and we will see if we've got a currently- or previously-approved volunteer that might be a good fit!

Do you know someone who might be interested in volunteering? Have them complete our prospective volunteer survey and we can follow-up with them if there is an opportunity that fits their interests and availability.

A good place to start is the staff shortcuts page on any District website. You can find it by clicking on the "FOR STAFF" link on the dark blue channel bar on any District website.

The St. Olaf Orchestra, conducted by Chung Park, will perform at Bremerton High School in Bremerton, WA, on Wednesday, October 19 at 7:00 PM during its 2022 Fall Tour. The St. Olaf Orchestra is a full symphony orchestra rich in international artistry and tradition and known for its enthusiastic and passionate performances. Founded in 1906, the 95-member ensemble has been heralded as one of the finest collegiate orchestras in the country, and won the 2013 and 2019 American Prizes in Orchestral Performances among colleges and universities.

Dr. Chung Park takes the reins of the St. Olaf Orchestra in his first year as conductor, and we hope you join us in supporting him on his inaugural tour! Highlights of the program include Symphony No. 1 in G Major by Joseph Bologne, Chevalier de Saint-Georges, standout soloists from the ranks of the St. Olaf Orchestra, and Tchaikovsky's gripping and poignant Symphony No. 6 Pathétique.

The Board reviewed one policy for first read. This revision will come back to the Board for adoption on October 6, 2022.

New procedures were created for School Safety and Security Services Program, 4311P.

At its study session, the Board worked with Northwest Leadership to establish a timeline for the superintendent search.

Several Letters of Agreements were signed with employee bargaining units: 1) ·SEIU – Leave Cashout; 2) BPEA – Sub Pay Rates; 3) BPEA – Bonus structure for subs; and 4)·BEA - Health & Safety Concerns.

The Oath of Office was administered by OESD Superintendent Aaron Leavell to Interim Superintendent Donna Colosky. In turn, Superintendent Colosky administered the Oath to incoming Student Representative to the Board, Julie Meyer.

Melissa Rohr provided a presentation highlighting Career and Technical Education updates and celebrations at Bremerton High , Renaissance, and Mountain View Middle School programs.

At recent study sessions, the Board and Ms. Colosky created new joint Board and Superintendent Goals for the upcoming school year.

Teachers who have moved buildings: Please make sure your name is on your CURRENT school's website and linked. See anything awry? Please click here to let us know!

All teachers: please check to make sure your site is viewable to non-BSD viewers!

1. Open the editable site.

2. Click on the "plus head" icon.

3. Change the access settings for published site (below the "General Access" header) to "public".

4. Click "done."

5. Click on the link icon and copy the link.

6. Open an incognito window and paste the link in the URL bar to verify that it can be seen by people outside the district. Check any embedded documents/links/etc to ensure they can be seen by everyone.

All BSD staff are welcome to create a Google site - you don't have to be a teacher (but teachers are required to have one set up to communicate with students' families).

SHOUT OUT to Shani Watkins, director of West Sound Technical Skills Center.

Shani recently testified in Washington DC during the US House of Representatives Committee on Small Business, Subcommittee on Innovation, Entrepreneurship and Workforce Development titled “Back to School, Back to Startups: Supporting Youth Apprenticeship, Entrepreneurship, and Workforce Development," Shani serves as the Region V Vice President for Association for Career and Technical Education.

Shani offered testimony on her institution’s support of workforce development efforts and provided policymakers with details of her experiences with career and technical education (CTE) programs and small business partnerships. View the hearing here!
