Tech this out!
#closure2020 edition volume 2 (April 2)
In this newsletter:
That's what I need, maybe it is what you need, too.
Just for a minute.
Seriously...
It's okay to mourn what we thought the end of this year would be like. It's okay to experience a roller coaster of emotions. It's okay to be scared that you aren't up to what is ahead of you. It's okay to be excited for the potential of how this lets you try something new, and be nervous about it at the same time. These are the things I'm feeling. Can you relate?
A few things I have been telling myself.
- allow the emotions, but don't stay there. Keep moving forward. Thank you, Meet the Robinsons and Finding Nemo!
- moving, getting fresh air (even if it is just an open window) and changing perspective help. and my favorite...
- you don't know just how much you can do until you are forced to do it. You've got this! We are all in this together, and here is where the growth mindset we have been teaching students meets reality. We are all learning something new, doing things we didn't know how to do a month ago! We (you!) are pretty impressive people around here!
In this volume, I'm going to share that link again and hold off on giving you much new stuff. I will send a newsletter next week, and hope you will be slowing to enjoy Spring Break a little--- know that volume 3 will be there when you need it, and the tech newsletter is always linked in my email signature.

This week at the Virtual Learning Gym
If you want to see some of the Gym Workouts that might be useful in your Distance Learning Plans, I describe some at the link below.
FYI, we will continue adding to the Virtual Gym each week, and will be changing the format just a tad so it isn't one big page. There is a form on the main page of the site where you can suggest resources to add to the Gym.

Student Device Checkout
I will try to share things we see consistently, if there is something you can suggest to fix it. For example....
iPad with no asset tag (white HESD sticker)
- Open the Settings app
- Tap About
- Notice Name is the first row on the right
- Record the numbers at the end of the name
Students get a proxy popup
"Hey, Liz, how do we RESET?"
- on an iPad--- hold down the top button until the slider shows on the screen to shut down. Slide the screen button to shut down. Then, the iPad can be restarted again with the button on top.
- on a Chromebook--- sign out with the red button on the bottom right, then choose SHUT DOWN on the bottom right.

That's all for now, friends!
