"My favorite thing about my class is when they come in so excited in the morning wanting to know what we are learning today. I love figuring out different ways to teach each of them effectively and can’t wait to see how much they grow!"
E-LEARNING DAY MONDAY, SEPTEMBER 18💻
Students are required to return their Chromebooks and the charger on Tuesday, September 19. This is a major tool for learning in a New Tech school and students are unable to complete work if they do not have their Chromebook. It is also vital that while students have their Chromebooks and charger at home that everyone understands the importance of caring for these items. Parents will be charged for any lost or damaged Chromebooks and lost chargers are $20 each.
ADVENTURE CLUB BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL CARE
BEFORE and AFTER SCHOOL CARE HAS STARTED! Longfellow students MUST be signed up with The Adventure Club (TAC) prior to attending.
The Adventure Club provides before and after school care for students signed up with TAC. They accept vouchers and school district employees get a discount.

Meet Shelly Gates, Longfellow School Counselor
My undergraduate degree is in English and History. I worked with children of all ages through community service and substitute teaching for many years before eventually going back to earn an MA in school counseling from Indiana Wesleyan University. Since graduation, I have worked at Portage high school for the last six years. I am a member of the American School Counselor Association and nationally certified through the National Board of Certified Counselors. I am excited to work with younger students who learn and grow so much each year. I look forward to talking to parents and students to learn ways that I can be helpful in promoting happy, healthy habits for life!
Substitutes Needed!
Lake Ridge New Tech Schools has partnered with Kelly Educational Staffing (KES) for our substitute teacher and paraprofessional needs. KES will handle all the aspects of our substitute employee program including hiring, training, and scheduling. There are several advantages to this partnership, such as the opportunity for substitute employees to have year-round employment and additional incentives exclusive to employment with KES.
To apply for a substitute teacher position in the Lake Ridge New Tech Schools, please contact the local Kelly Educational Staffing branch office at 219-879-6131 or 2359@kellyservices.com.
