We Need Your Input.... Please Respond!!!!
We need your input! If you have not done so already, please participate in the Illinois 5Essentials Parent and Guardian Survey. Your responses will remain confidential and will not be connected to the identity of you or your child.
Survey results will help us to better understand the conditions at school and to guide improvement. For the survey to be validated, we need at least 20% of our parents to take the survey.
Visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ to participate. Thank you for your support!
PTC Scholastic Book Fair
SAVE THE DATE!
We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Spring Scholastic Book Fair. The Fall Book Fair was a great success. Families helped to raise over $900 to benefit Prairie Trails. Thank you! The Spring Book Fair will be even bigger with more books to choose from.
The Fair will take place from March 21-March 24, 2023. Students will be able to shop the book fair during school on Wednesday, March 22nd and Thursday, March 23rd, and families will be able to shop during Parent/Teacher Conferences, the evening of Thursday, March 23rd and all day on Friday, March 24th.
More details will be coming home soon with students. You can also visit our book fair website for more details or to set up an e-wallet.

Free Dental Exams
Coming up in April, the Miles of Smiles, Ltd. dental program will be visiting our district. This is a program that offers free dental exams to students of all grades and also fulfills the mandated dental exam for anyone entering kindergarten, 2nd, 6th and 9th grades.
In order to have your child participate, you will need to fill out a permission form. Once fully completed, the permission form should be returned to your child’s teacher by March 15.
All children who return a completed permission form will receive a dental exam. Following the exam at school, you will be notified if further dental treatment is needed.
*Important Note: Please make sure to fill out the entire permission form.

PE
Staley the Bear came to Prairie Trails on Thursday, 2/23 for Fuel Up to Play 60 assemblies. FUTP60 was launched by the NFL and the National Dairy Council. The purpose of this program is to encourage our students to consume nutrient-rich food and to get 60 minutes of physical activity every day. Nutritious Foods+Physical Activity=Energetic, Healthy Chipmunks!
Don’t hesitate to email me with any questions. Beth Miller evossmiller@rtsd26.org
STEM
We continued our coding experiences with Ozobots! Our students were very successful with color coding the paths for Evi, our Ozobots, to read. We then worked to create a MEGA MAP! Each class was challenged to create a map that will connect with another class map. We also turned this into an Arctic Mega Map with arctic landforms and animals!
If you have any questions, please reach out to me at jwagner@rtsd26.org.
