A Message from Mrs. Caudill
This week I was able to get into every classroom and read a book. The book I read is titled, One by Kathryn Otoshi. This simple picture book has a big message. In each class we discussed how one person can be the change and make a difference. This book also talks about inclusivity and how everyone has different interests and personalities. Through this book we discussed how everyone matters and it's ok for someone to be different than you. I asked each student to "act like the number 1". This weekend, ask your child about this book and how the number one made a difference in the colors lives.
This book is also related to one of our Leader in Me Habits, Habit 5. In learning about Habit 5 we learn to seek first to understand and then to be understood. Red was quick to judge Blue because he was "not hot". But, by the end Red understands that Red can be hot AND blue can be cool too.
Reading to classes this week gave me such a positive boost of energy. I cannot wait for our year together. It is going to be great!
Stay well,
Devon Caudill

Help us keep your kids safe at Arrival and Dismissal
- As a reminder the Amerman parking lot gates are closed from 8:32 - 8:42 AM and from 3:45 - 3:55 PM. This is for the safety of our walkers that cross in front of the parking lots. Please do not attempt to move the gates yourself or get upset at our safeties when they adhere to our policies. Please remember they are just kids trying to follow the rules we gave them.
- Families are welcome to use our amazing playgrounds after school. When moving from one playground to another, please do not walk/bike through the car loop while cars are still picking up students.
- If you have changed your mind about how your child is getting home and they are already in the car loop, please notify one of the adults you see in charge so they are aware you are taking your child. Our staff gets worried when a child is not where they are supposed to be.
In the loop at the end of the day, Amerman teachers and staff will make sure children get to the correct vehicle. Help us keep all our children safe by paying attention to the staff members.
- Please advance and come to a complete stop while we get your child/children to your car.
- You should not need to call or beckon your child to your car.
- Please do not back up or try to move around the car in front of you unless directed by a staff member.
- And as always, clearly display the name of the student(s) being picked up until your child is in the car.

PTA News you can use!
We hope to see you all next week at our Back to School roller skate! Please note the new time of 5-8pm, and be sure to mention Amerman when you pay your admission.
Thank you to everyone who attended our PTA meeting last week! We heard from Principal Mrs. Caudill and Superintendent Dr. Webber, Amy Prevo from Northville Youth Network, and our members voted to approve our proposed budget and to elect Jessica Gomez as Vice President Bobcats. Our goal this year is to provide more free events for our students and to raise money for more of those events in the future. Please join us as a member, sign up to volunteer, book a Birthday Cafe lunch, or Invest in Your Child at www.AmermanPTA.com.
Speaking of which: our Fun Run is just around the corner! Mark your calendars, because Thursday, November 2nd at 5:30pm is this year's Fun Run fundraiser! To avoid confusion and allow parents, families, friends and neighbors to come out and support their students and Amerman, all students will report to Amerman by 5:30pm for the Fun Run. We are dedicated to making this an even better experience than last year, including a DJ, inflatables, and a food truck! Everyone is welcome to come support. This year we are raising money to go toward outdoor learning initiatives that can be used at recess or during Brain Breaks. We also hope to raise enough money over time to install permanent shade on the playground! A link to donate will be coming soon. The PTA will provide the top lower el and upper el fundraising classes with a pizza party! Top individual fundraisers will win an additional prize.
