The Viking Culture this year is to "Win the Day". We challenge all students and staff to pick 1 goal each day to accomplish. When you have succeeded with that 1 goal, you have "Won the Day!"

Here are a few ways to "Win the Day"

• "Flip the Script" on struggles/challenges and make them successes!
• Follow "Kaizen" - strive for continuous improvement each day!
• "Be Kind" - smile, say hello, look out for your fellow vikings! Remember - everyone is going through a battle we may not know.. Be Kind Always!

CV's Showcase and Open House on Thursday evening had a wonderful turnout! Families were introduced to CV's positive culture, numerous clubs and activities, wide-range of electives and dynamic teachers! Did you know... CV has the only Middle School Jazz Band AND the only Kiln (art class) in OUSD!!

Congratulations to Mr. Cartiglia for being the recipient of Cerro Villa's Teacher of the Year and to Mr. John for being the recipient of Cerro Villa's Classified Employee of the Year! Each recipient is chosen by Cerro Villa's staff and will be recognized by OUSD as the Site Employee of the Year! Congratulations!!

THE GREAT KINDNESS CHALLENGE WEEK: JANUARY 22-26

The California Department of Education, in partnership with The Great Kindness Challenge (GKC), encourages California's school communities to participate in the GKC. The theme for the 13th annual GKC Week is Create Kindness.

Leadership will have daily activities through homeroom where students can demonstrate how they are "Creating Kindness"

The Scholastic Book Fair is here! Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them on their journey to becoming lifelong readers. AND—as always—every purchase at the Fair benefits our school.

The OUSD Open Enrollment process will begin on January 15th and close on January 29th.

Villa Park High School Community Open House and Showcase Event is coming up on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 from 5:00-7:30 p.m. (School Choice Fair – In Conjunction with High School Showcases from 6:00-7:30 p.m.; School Choice Fairs with Feeder School Presentations would go from 5:00-6:00 p.m. with the community being able to remain on campus and view the high school buildings and signature programs).

Vikings - Cerro Villa will participate in the American Heart Challenge this year! The American Heart Challenge supports The American Heart Association. Our kick-off assembly will be on February 2nd. Students will have many opportunities to win wonderful prizes! All monies fundraised go straight to the American Heart Association! More information to follow:

The Cerro Villa Parent Faculty Student Organization (PFSO) is a non-profit organization that assists the faculty and staff in enhancing the education experiences of our children.

​The PFSO assists with many programs around the school, including dances, Student of the Month, Honor Society, and the 8th Grade Promotion Party. Without your support, these events would not be possible. Most importantly, the PFSO also supports the faculty and staff at Cerro Villa in acquiring items they need for their classrooms in order to enhance our children’s educational experiences.

LCAP Survey - LCAP Closes on January 26th!

The state of California requires each school district to create a Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) annually. Orange Unified School District conducts a survey each year to gather information from a variety of educational partners including students (grades 3-12), parents, community members and staff regarding the OUSD learning environment that contributes to the production of high academic achievement levels for all students.

This LCAP survey is anonymous, and the collective results will be shared during Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) meetings to guide local priority development, actions, expenditures, and services related to the conditions of learning, achievement outcomes, safety, and educational partner engagement. We value each respondent, and it is important that we get a representative sample from our community.

STUDENT OPT-OUT FORM:

Per Board Policy 5020.1(a), you have the option to EXEMPT your child from participating. If you DO NOT want your child to participate in the LCAP survey, please indicate so by signing and returning the form below to the main office.

If we do not receive an OPT-OUT form from you, we will assume you are choosing to have your child participate in the LCAP survey.
