Reminder: School is CLOSED on Friday February 17th and Monday February 20th.
Car Riders: Effective Tuesday February 21st, car rider dismissal will change from 2:10 PM to 2:15 PM.
This week is Kindness Week! The purpose of Kindness Week in Virginia is to recognize that simple day-to-day acts of kindness enable our school and community to be a kinder, safer, healthier and more inclusive place to live, work, learn and play. We will have many fun activities happening in our building this week to promote kindness. Students are encouraged to join in on spirit week fun!
Monday 2/13
- Don't sweat the small stuff! Wear your workout clothes.
Tuesday 2/14
- Kindness shines! Wear neon, sparkles, glitter, shiny clothes.
Wednesday 2/15
- Dream of kindness! Wear your PJs.
Thursday 2/16
- Positively yellow! Wear yellow for positivity.
Friday 2/17
- NO school!
Conundrum Day
GCPS will hold an in person conundrum day on Saturday February 25th from 8:45 AM to 11:30 AM at Goochland Middle School. Students in grades PK-8th will complete a stem challenge based on the book Stella Diaz Has Something to Say. The deadline to register is February 18th. Register HERE.
Gifted Referrals
The Goochland County Public Schools Gifted Referral Window is now open until the end of February. If you are interested in learning more about our gifted program you can reach out to Mrs. Donovan, mdonovan@glnd.k12.va.us. If you would like to refer your child for gifted please fill out the gifted referral form and return it to your child's teacher. You can find the referral form HERE.
Byrd Spring Bazaar
There is still time for your child or family to participate in the Byrd Bazaar! Your child has the opportunity to make and sell an item(s) of their choice. This event will be held on Tuesday, March 28th from 5:30-7:00 in the BES Gym. Imagine a farmers market style feel right here in our school! We have so many talented students and families. We would love for your child to participate in this amazing event!
Students may advertise their goods on the BES Bazaar bulletin board on the fifth-grade hall at Byrd!

Spring Planting
We are preparing for spring planting at Byrd Elementary! We are accepting donations of the below items. Thank you for supporting our school!
-plastic gallon milk jugs
-cardboard tubes
-black and white newspaper
-potting soil
-shoe boxes

Reminders
Please email beseagles@glnd.k12.va.us for transportation changes. All transportation changes need to be in by 12:00 PM.
- If you need to pick up your student in the office, please do so before 2pm. Pickup after 2pm should be done through the car rider line.
