What is footvolley
Footvolley is an interesting game as it combines elements of Beach Volleyball and Soccer. What is not lovable about that? Both beach volleyball and Soccer are popular games, and when one gets a chance to watch the best elements of both sports simultaneously, one has double the fun. Footvolley is usually played by two against two, but sometimes four players face off against four others. 스포츠토토
Unlike what the name of the sport suggests, Footvolley is not played using Volleyball; generally, soccer balls are used to play, but balls specifically designed for Footvolley have been in use since 2015. These balls are slightly heavier than a Volleyball and have a different look from soccer balls.
Gameplay
The purpose is to play the ball over the net, to the opponent’s side without making the ball touch the ground on one's side of the court. It is played with two players on each side and begins when a player serves the ball to their opponent. On the receiving end, the player or players can receive the ball using either their head, shoulders, chest, thigs or feet with the chest being the preferred option as it has a wider contact area; it is known as the first touch after the service.
Scoring
There are various methods of scoring in the game; the most practiced one being the best of three version where the winning side has to win two sets out of the three.
Rules of footvolley
The game is played in two teams facing each other in the field, separated by a volleyball net. The opponent's field may not be entered and the net may not be touched. However, the most important rule is that the ball can be played with all parts of the body except the hands, arms, and shoulders. Each team is allowed to have three contacts with the ball. After that, the ball must be passed over the net to the opponent. In professional play, there is a fixed count and number of players per team. If you practice footvolley as a leisure sport, the most important thing is having fun and not focusing on the rules. Thus, it is possible to join a group of players and mix the teams without any problems.
History of Footvolley
Beginning in Rio in 1965 by Octavio de Moraes, footvolley did not spread very quickly in the early years. Considering that football (soccer) is Brazil’s favorite sport, followed closely by volleyball, it shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise that someone would think to merge them into footvolley!
In the early days, it was played with 5 players per team. The sport has been very popular with professional football (soccer) players, and so with 5 players per team, the ball would hardly ever drop. Eventually, the teams were reduced down to the 2-on-2 format used today.
The first major event held in the U.S. was in 2003 in Miami.
