Beautiful Boy is not by Nic Sheff, but by his father David Sheff. The novel is from his father's point of view and geared toward parents of addicts or other loved ones having to go through the same pain. David describes Nic's life and how he has been apart of the mess his son has created for their already messed up family. David shares his thoughts on Nic's choices and speaks for all the other parents with the same story.
