Free & Reduced Meal Applications Now Available Through Infinite Campus!
The USDA program that allowed all students access to free meals during the COVID-19 pandemic has ended. However, there are important steps you can take to be sure your student receives the meals they need this year. Students may qualify for free or reduced meals, but you must take action to make it happen (one app per household).
Please follow the steps below:
Families can now complete the Free & Reduced Meal Application online in 3-5 minutes through Infinite Campus! Simply sign-on to Infinite Campus through the Student & Family Portal, select “more” and then “Meal Benefits” to walk through step-by-step. Submitting the application electronically ensures rapid processing!
If you are unable to complete electronically, you can also download a paper form directly from our website on the Student & Family Portal.
Families directly certified via DHHS will receive notification letters via US mail very soon. Please be sure to complete the Information Sharing Form to ensure fee waivers are processed for your student(s).
Infinite Campus Login > Select More > Meal Benefits > Begin your application
Safe Schools Roadmap for 2022-23
Gering Public Schools continues to work in consultation with local healthcare providers, health officials, and neighboring school districts to monitor the impact of COVID illness within our schools.
Key updates for the 2022-23 school year:
- Gering Public Schools will remove thresholds which required specific layered prevention protocols.
- The District will no longer maintain a COVID Dashboard to communicate school-based positive case counts and elevated protocols.
- Additionally, we will conclude message notifications to students identified as close classroom contacts.
We encourage families to monitor the community conditions available for the entire panhandle at www.pphd.org. Face coverings are optional for everyone inside GPS buildings. GPS will support face coverings based on an individual's personal preference and informed by their vaccination status and personal level of risk.
To review the entire Safe Schools Roadmap for 2022-23 (key updates on pages 2 & 3) please visit the COVID-19 Safe Schools Roadmap page for resources and additional community information.
Important Bus Transportation Update
Additionally, we are making some changes to the transportation services model that may impact your student(s) and add a bus transfer during their route. Please read and review this important District update.
