DEA Presentation for LCISD Parents
LCISD Parents,
HB 3908 mandates that schools provide education on fentanyl and other dangerous drugs to secondary students. Lubbock-Cooper ISD has partnered with local Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) agents to conduct educational assemblies throughout the semester to ensure this critical information reaches as many of our middle school and high school students as possible. These assemblies provide students with insight into the dangers of drugs, particularly those in pill form, and their impact on our community. We hope to equip students with the knowledge to make informed decisions contributing to their own safety and the safety of their peers. The information shared with students is frightening, emotional, and largely local to the Lubbock area. The program covers very real events and statistics, and is presented by knowledgeable individuals who have seen first-hand the disturbing effects of fentanyl and other illicit substances on individuals the same age as many of our students.
Many parents may have questions or like to know more about the fast-growing, nationwide epidemic that is fentanyl and other drugs in pill form. You are invited to join us for a parent presentation at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 11 at the LCISD Performing Arts Center, where you will receive the same presentation given to students, and have an opportunity to visit with presenters Capt. Billy Koontz and Sgt. Tony Williams.
The information presented to secondary students as part of this program may be too mature for elementary-aged students, however, parents of ALL Lubbock-Cooper students are encouraged to attend the parent presentation on October 11. The information shared is valuable, and important for all community members to hear.
The safety of our students is a partnership between school, home, and community, and we appreciate your support.

Community Involvement
EMBARK Brings Community Leaders to LCHS
We are excited to announce that we will be hosting three more distinguished professionals within the next few weeks. Our three visitors will be visiting classrooms to share their expertise and help guide our students toward their future career paths.
We welcome Luke Fleenor from ParkHill from October 9th - 13th. Mr. Fleenor is an EIT who currently works under the supervision of a Professional Engineer to design HVAC and plumbing systems for a wide array of project types. Students will gain insight on professions growing in demand.
Aaron Baxter and Audrey Marsh from Livingston Hearing Aid Center will join us from October 16th - 20th. Mr. Baxter currently serves as the Director of Technology for the largest privately-held hearing healthcare practice in the United States. Ms. Marsh has been with Livingston Hearing Aid Center as a software developer since 2021 where she creates custom web-based software solutions and supports the audiology and practice care teams in resolving technical issues. Their visit will be particularly beneficial for those interested in pursuing careers in IT as they will provide valuable guidance and advice on how to navigate this rapidly evolving industry.
This is an excellent change for our students to gain first-hand knowledge about these professions and explore potential career opportunities. We encourage you to actively participate in these sessions and take advantage of these unique opportunities. If you are interested in hearing more from these professionals, click on the photos below to set up a time for them to visit.
