Setting a Positive Tone to Motivate North to Achieve Great Things!
We've had a smooth start and positive vibes here at Plymouth North to start the brand new school year. After getting schedules in temporary homerooms, students then spent the next two days getting to know their new teachers and new classes on both A and B days.
Feel free to take a look below at:

Key Things To Reflect on and Remember
- Chromebooks are KEY, Phones... not so much:
Chromebooks: We use student chromebooks a lot! In every department and just about every course, we require that students have fully charged chromebooks at the ready to engage with our lessons. Your support in reminding your child to charge them each night is a huge help!
Phones on the other hand, are major distractors to learning. Constant notifications and text messages hold kids back from their best work. As the parent of the sixth grader, I recently realized that Apple makes it pretty easy to restrict student phone use during the school day from my own phone anywhere on Earth, while still allowing them to contact you in an emergency. Look into it if you haven't already! Restricting apps and contacts that will distract them during key class time will help make sure your child can engage and do their best work. - We need your signed forms back!
Students all got a few forms to sign and return, including updated contact information for you, and a general liability release that students need. Without that form, they can't participate in a whole host of activities. Be on the lookout for them when they arrive home, and please have your child return them to their directed study teacher when they get to school. - Consistent Attendance Translates to Learning Growth:
Especially for Freshmen, studies show that more impactful than any other indicator, inconsistent attendance makes it 8 times more likely that a student will fail a course. We want all our kids with us in school, every day, all day! To help motivate better attendance, our handbook dictates that students who miss more than 10% of class meetings (after 15 minutes is considered an absence) will automatically lose credit in their course towards graduation. Any support at home to encourage attendance is very welcome! - 10 Day Deadline to Change Classes:
Students have 10 days from the start of the school year to add or drop any yearlong or semester courses. We do not change classes after that firm deadline. If students are interested in changing their courses, they should reach out to their guidance counselor as soon as possible. - Open House Is Earlier This Year:
Travel your child's schedule and get to know their teachers even earlier this year! Our Open House is scheduled for Wednesday, September 27th from 6-8pm. - Homecoming Weekend is Near!
Our Homecoming Football Game (Thursday, September 28th) and our Homecoming Dance in the Courtyard (Friday, September 29th) are coming up fast! Tickets are available starting September 18th in Ms. Wolcott's Room, Rm. 331.
