JUNE PTC COMMUNITY MEETING MINUTES
PRINCIPAL REPORT, Dr. Shannon Anderson
Team celebrations for 6th & 7th: During the last two days of school, teams are organizing team-level festivities. CDL students are invited and transportation for those interested will be provided. Activities may include picnics, games outside, etc. A designated teacher will be online to have fun with those still at home. The focus is on giving kids a fun, last two-days experience.
Chromebooks will NOT be collected this June: Students will keep their chromebooks over the summer unless parents don’t want to be responsible. The chromebooks from graduating seniors will be recirculated to next year’s 6th graders. If you are interested in returning the chromebooks for the summer, look for drop-off times during the last three days of school.
CPMS to host virtual summer parent Q&A sessions: 70% of student body will be brand new and with the new building, new schedule, and new programs, Dr. Anderson and her team will host virtual Q&A sessions, similar to last summer, to eliminate confusion and keep families informed.
Wolf Day scheduled for Thursday, 8/26: Wolf Day is back! This August’s event will be an opportunity to buy school supplies, receive student’s schedule, buy PE shirts and/or spiritwear. This is a drop-in event and confirmed times will be communicated.
Interested in feeder school traditions: Dr. A would love to listen & learn from the new Cedar Park families. What traditions were loved at your previous school? How can Cedar incorporate them? The CPMS admisn are open to new things for 2021-22.
President, Bettina Jeszenszky
- Important transition time for this age group. It’s easy for parents to take a step back; but can still continue to be involved; shows student that you value their education/their school by serving on the Board.
- Training is provided for volunteer software, but not a huge time commitment. There will be periodic messages, but it’s a great way to know Dr. A & teachers.
Welcome to Rachel Carson families: A bylaw change may be necessary to incorporate RC Director of Volunteers; The VC did work with Five Oaks Board and we will need to create an interchange to keep communication open.
Thank you to outgoing Board members: Jenna Dornblaser, Hannah Donohue, and Skye Kutansky
2021-22 Dates: Mark your calendars! Blog post is ready with upcoming dates/events for the fall.

- We have spent quite a bit less this year due to no art lit, pack store; budget shortfall offset by less expenses
- Line items still to go: 8th grade celebration; celebrations; staff appreciation; instrument repairs
- How we pivoted to support CDL this year: February’s walk-thru celebration, books for OBOB, art/science kits

Incoming Family Q&A:
- Will there be a garden for Rachel Carson? As a BSD program, Rachel Carson should be supported by Beaverton School District funds. Dr. A will check in with those officials to see what they are planning to support for the garden and we can use the summer to learn what we will need.
- Cali Encse: interested in helping with Art Lit. She has done this before.
- Jennifer Klinger (RC parent): Shared that she is interested in seeing how RC and CPMS can blend together their traditions with our traditions. Not interested in taking that on, but would like to be able to see that occur.
- Dr. A would like to gather a Transition Committee in order to support the combination of RC and CPMS, as mentioned by Jennifer. She said she would be reaching out to see if she can gather some participants, particularly to support and develop the Fall Welcome.
- Holli Shenfield: Was the treasurer at 5 Oaks and is interested in being the Volunteer Coordinator for next year. (Update: Holli has since been appointed to Volunteer Coordinator and will be joining the Board for 2021-22)
