Staff Spotlight!

This week we are giving a shoutout to our amazing art teacher, Mrs. Padilla! On days 1,4, and 5 you will hear a lot of excitement in the hallway while approaching the art room. Mrs. Padilla always gives Kolmar students the space and materials to express themselves creatively. Students learn about different artists and their techniques, as well as learning so much about themselves and what their creative minds can come up with! They are constantly working on new and exciting projects, and the students are always so proud of their finished work. Students and staff love to see the awesome work displayed in the art room and all around the school! Mrs. Padilla's supportive, upbeat, and kind nature helps keep the art room, and all of Kolmar school, the exciting, fun, and creative place that it is! Thanks so much for all you do for us Mrs. Padilla!

Classroom Happenings!

Our 1st grade scholars are very hard at work! There is so much happening in first grade! One major thing they are working on in ELA is identifying non-fiction text features in non-fiction books and articles. They are also working on finding the central message of a story. They have been doing a great job asking and answering questions about the books and articles they are reading.

In Math they are balancing equations. Wow! They are also practicing using a number path to help them solve problems. They are really getting their wheels turning during problem solving with Mrs. Koch everyday.

In Science they are focusing on a sea turtle named Spruce and how Spruce will be able to go back into the ocean after living at an aquarium. They have been focusing on how Spruce can defend herself in the ocean and are even making models to show everything they have learned. In Social Studies they are learning all about community helpers. Amazing! Keep doing amazing things 1st grade! I

Leaf Raking

Thank you to all of the Kolmar students, alumni, and families who came out this past weekend to support the D123 senior citizen leaf raking event! The Kolmar team worked hard and did an amazing job! Well done!

Report Cards

Report cards will be available in Skyward accounts on Friday, November 19th. This year paper copies are not being distributed.

Morning Routine

Please remember that school begins at 8:30 am. Students who arrive after 8:30 a.m. will need to be brought into the office and signed in by their parents. Remember a face mask must be worn when entering the school. If your student is going to be late don’t forget to pack a lunch, lunch orders are placed at 8:50 am.

Also, please remember that the circle drive in front of the school is for student drop off only. In order to keep traffic flowing, it is important that parents not exit their cars. Parents are asked to use the parking lot near the gym or park on the side streets if they would like to walk with their child to the door.

Kolmar's Food Drive

Kolmar's food drive has been extended by one day. Please send any non-perishable items in by Wednesday, November 17. Thank you for your help and generosity!

Thanksgiving Break / December Late Start

There will be no school Monday, November 22 through Friday, November 26. School will resume on Monday, November 29.

A district-wide late start is scheduled for Wednesday, December 1. School will begin at 9:30 a.m. for children in K-5. Pre-K classes are not in session this day.
