This week's newsletter is almost the same as last week as there are many important pieces of information that are still important.


JOIN US TONIGHT!!!!!!!!!!

Join our Superintendent, Steve Zadravec and your two Rye principals for a community forum focusing on The Portrait of a Learner. We want to hear your voices as we work towards the end goal for our students in the Rye Schools. Please come at 6PM to Rye Elementary School! This will be a workshop so everyone can provide input.

In an effort to recognize and celebrate all the ways in which our R.E.S. families are unique, please take a minute or two to complete the following form! Your participation is optional. We want to know more about our students and celebrate who they are so we thought we would start with all of you!

Playground Fundraiser: We are SO CLOSE!

Please sign up here to have your child attend babysitting with RES teachers! We will watch your child(ren) while you enjoy a night out to benefit our playground. We are so close!

Room Parent Training

If you sign up to be a room parent, there will be a mandatory meeting on October 16 at 8:05 AM, as soon as students can be dropped off. The meeting will take place in Conference Room 2. This training will focus on the Wellness Policy, the calendar of events and more. If you cannot attend, please email the teacher to ensure that at least one or two representatives for each classroom must be present.

Learning About Uraguay

Mrs. Araujo shared an amazing presentation about her native country of Uruguay with the third graders for Hispanic Heritage Month. She taught us about food, dances and more from this unique country. Did you know children in Uruguay wear white uniforms with blue ribbons to school every day? ¡Que interesante! ¡Gracias, Señora Araujo!

Open House: Thank you for Coming!

We had a great time at the Open House! We know there was a lot of energy but we love that this night allows our families to see ALL that RES has to offer. Here is a drum circle led by Mr. Guth! We love the enthusiasm of our families to participate and go with our flow.

Outdoor Education in Grade 4

Students in Grade 4 took their activity inside on a rainy day and considered which substances would retain and which ones would drain water. The students made observations and predictions. It was amazing to hear their discussions and most of all, the way they worked together.

Lunch with Students

We do allow one family member at a time to have lunch with their child(ren) but this is very optional and we don't want families to feel pressured to attend.

  • Email resoffice@sau50.org if you would like to attend with the date/time (starting October 1). It is important to anticipate who will be in the building. We love these opportunities for students and their family members but we will always put safety first.
  • We do have a focus during this time...eating for energy and brain power!
  • Family members must meet the child in the cafeteria and leave from the cafeteria.
  • Lunch times are:

    • Kindergarten-11:45-12:10

    First Grade-12:15-12:40

    Second Grade-12:15-12:40

    Third Grade- 11:15-11:40

    Fourth Grade-11:15-11:40

1. Trunk or Treat - Friday Oct 27th - @ RES 5-6:30

Help us make this memorable night a success!

  • All Rye students are welcome! Parents are responsible for supervising your children.
  • Volunteers needed for a few duties night of see sign up genius
  • Raffle Basket- see sign up genius.
  • Trunks - sign up to decorate your trunk spooky or fun!
  • Raffle Basket tickets can be purchased at the tables, bring CASH!

2. Membership drive is on! Sign up for PTA membership for this year and help us support your students and staff at RES and RJH! Winning grade at each school for most members signed up gets a pizza party!

Rye400 Party at Atlantic Grill - apps, drink tickets, silent auction, and a way to have a night out with your partner or friends and support the playground! All $ raised comes back to the playground. ALSO RES STAFF CAN BABYSIT YOUR RES STUDENTS!! Complete the sign up genius for your students to have fun at school after hours while you are having fun mingling with friends! You drop off students at school and head to AG!
