10.3 iRead iCount Program
The iRead iCount program started in USD116 in the Fall 2022. The program puts community volunteers in our schools to work one-on-one with kindergarten and 1st grade students. They spend 10-15 minutes with each student to play games and activities designed to improve their reading and math skills.
- Each program (iRead and iCount) runs for six week.
- Students who are in need of additional help in the areas of math and reading are identified by their teachers based upon their grades, benchmark assessment scores, and teacher observation.
- Volunteers must be willing to work with young learners, commit to one hour a week and must go through a background check and training
- Volunteers can pick the school and time that works best for them
- Program Dates: March 21-May 5
- Applications are due January 27
- Volunteer trainings will take place in February 2023
- You can apply to be an iRead iCount here: iRead iCount
