Career Cluster of the Month: Manufacturing
Manufacturing
Every month SDoL is highlighting one career cluster. Career clusters are a selection of jobs within one of 16 different areas as defined by the US Department of Labor.
In Demand Local Careers
The demand for welders is expected to grow by 6.3% by 2024 in Lancaster County. This career requires a credential or Associate's degree with an entry salary of $34,160 and a median salary of $44, 140 in Lancaster County.
Local Postsecondary Training Option
Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology offers credential and associate's degree programs in welding. These programs range from 3 weeks to 2 years. A larger percentage of SDoL students take advantage of the Stevens Grant and pay little to no tuition to attend.

Resource Highlight
Let's be honest, paying for college is a significant worry for families. Postsecondary education keeps getting more and more expensive, with no signs of letting us. The good news is there's time to plan, with lots of resources available. The SDoL website has a treasure trove of resources on paying for higher education. You can find that information here.
