The November 7 school bond vote and school board elections are now less than a week away. Please take time to learn more about this vote by clicking the button below that will take you to the school bond website. Here you can submit questions you might have about the school bond. Please mark your calendars and vote on November 7!

If you have been following along with recent trends, youth mental health is a big topic in our country. According to the CDC's latest research, more youth are experiencing poor mental health and suicidal ideations are at an all time high. The promising news is that having positive connections in their school and family can be a protective factor in helping a student's mental health. Creating a positive culture in our school district is a focus of both buildings this year and will continue to be a work in progress for years to come. While school counselors are important to a school, they are not licensed mental health therapists but a stepping stone to getting mental health support some of our students need. There are several mental health practitioners right here in our district including therapists/counselors at Manning Regional Healthcare Center and Holistic Health.

School Based Mental Health Supports

IKM-Manning is lucky to partner with several outside agencies to provide mental health supports for our students right here at school during the school day. Chelsie Hatcher, LMSW, is our AEA mental health school social worker. She works with students whose mental health impacts their success in the educational setting. Jill Wonder, LMHC, is our school based therapist that visits twice a month from Plains Area Mental Health in Denison. If you would like more information about either of these resources, please reach out to your child's school counselor.

On October 5, nearly fifteen IKM-Manning students attended Healthcare Discovery Camp at Manning Regional Healthcare Center (MRHC). These students explored careers throughout the hospital at six different hands-on stations including emergency, radiology, laboratory, family practice clinic, specialty clinic, therapy, surgery and more. This is the second year that MRHC has partnered with IKM-Manning and other surrounding school to help promote healthcare opportunities close to home.

The IKM-Manning FFA is doing their annual fundraiser of selling a variety of different foods. This years sale consist of fruit, Butter Braids, cheese spreads, nuts, cheeses, and silver dollar beef jerky. The deadline to order is November 6.
