Lisbon Elementary Newsletter
March 2021 Exciting Edition
Time Flies When You Are Having Fun!
I think I have said this every newsletter but I can’t believe that we are already in the middle of April! Time flies when you are having fun and enjoy what you do! This month our 3rd-6th grade students took their ISASP assessments. They used a rubric to assess their effort and set a goal of 95% of students scoring 80% or higher on their rubric. They met their goal and chose to have Mrs. Speidel give Mr. Brown an embarrassing haircut. This happened on Friday, April 16th during announcements for all students to see (see below). It was awesome to see all of their reactions and sense of accomplishment! Other highlights this month include classrooms being able to work outside and utilize our space we have, Junior Achievement in some classrooms, Agriculture in the classroom, teachers getting more technology training on Seesaw and our new platform Schoology, our upper elementary students participating in the Wizard of Oz, and many others. I appreciate the partnership with our community members and families, our newsletter typically averages anywhere from 700-1100 views per month. The goal of our monthly newsletter is an opportunity for us to share the amazing things that happen here every day. Thank you for all that you do to support our students/staff and letting us share what we are proud of!

Miss Kroeger's class posing in front of their new universe. After a long week of ISASP testing, we de-stressed by creating and writing about our very own planets.
The 4th graders tackled the balloon Minute to Win It challenge. The challenge was to keep 2 balloons in the air, while only using one hand, for as long as possible. Tyler and Klayton were the two champions!!
Students in Mrs. Smock’s WIN group got to play “Chains-opoly” created by Emma Dietsch, inspired by the historical novel, Chains, that her group read together during WIN.

1st Annual Walk-A-Thon May 14th 2021!
On May 14, AK through 12th grade students at Lisbon Community School will be participating in our first ever Walk-A-Thon! Throughout the day, all of the students will be walking around our brand new track to honor the memory of our former principal Roger Teeling. Students in grades AK-6th grade will be actively collecting memorial donations. They will have information and donation packets coming home soon. These packets need to be returned by Friday, May 7. Students in grades 7-12 will not have packets, but may collect donations. All of the donations collected will go directly to the school and will be used for a memorial basketball court, outdoor educational spaces, and memorial benches.
