Hello GREEN Educational Partners,
Staff Appreciation Week is this week, May 8 - 12, and it's a perfect opportunity to show your child's teacher how much you appreciate them. The GREEN teacher works hard daily to help you learn and grow; this is a chance to thank them for all they do.
There are many ways our HORNETS can show appreciation. For example, students can write them a note, draw a picture, or make them a special card. Children can also bring a small gift, like a plant or homemade card. No need to spend money; send a THANK YOU email.
Remember, the most important thing is showing your teacher you value and appreciate them. The kind words and actions will make a big difference and show teachers how much students care.
Thank you for taking the time to celebrate your child's teacher during Staff Appreciation Week.
Only the sixth-grade students will be dismissed at 1:20 this week, except Wednesdays at 1:00 pm due to parent conferences.
It is the last week of state testing. All students must be on campus before 7:55 am. The students are expected to be sitting down by 8:00 am when the final bell rings. Ensure the Chromebook charger and a fully charged device is ready inside your student's backpack.
Thank you for implementing a good eating and sleeping pattern. Rest support success in the achievements.
Join us this coming weekend, May 12 and 13, at Oxnard College; our outstanding students will perform The Beauty And The Beast Musical. See details below.
Attentively,
Irma Melgoza-Vasquez
Principal

SHINE 2023-2024
Parent Square Announcement
Enrollment in the Expanded Learning Day Program, SHINE (Students having innovative and novel enrichment experiences), for the 2023-2024 school year begins the week of April 24th. SHINE is the new program that unifies the former ASES Program and the enrichment classes offered this school year after school.
SHINE Enrollment packets for next year are available in the school office and with the site coordinator at each school. Participation in the expanded learning day program requires a new enrollment packet each year, as students currently enrolled in ASES do not automatically get enrolled to the next school year. Attendance for SHINE is based on the needs of each student and/or their families. Per AB 130, first priority is given to students who are English learners, foster youth and/or eligible for free or reduced-price meals and is based on available staff.
A confirmation letter will be mailed home in June to let you know if your student is enrolled to begin on the first day in the 2023-2024 school year or if they are on a waitlist.

Message From The Health Office:
The health office is a busy place. We have seen an increase in students coming to the health office that appear to be using the COVID protocols as a way to get out of class. Please talk with your student about not coming to the health office unless they are genuinely not feeling well. Also, COVID is still present and we are following the current Ventura County Public Health guidelines so please have a plan for who can pick up your student in case your student is sent home sick. Any COVID symptoms still require a negative COVID test result for the student to return to school. We want students in class as much as possible while looking out for your students' health and safety. Thank you for your help.

COVID Symptom Reminder and Return to School Requirements
As a reminder, at no time is it acceptable to send students to school when they are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms, and especially if they have received a positive test result (laboratory based OR at-home test). Please make sure to report all positive cases to your students’ school.
Temperature Screening: Please screen your child at home each day for fever or symptoms and do not send your child to school if he/she is symptomatic or sick.
Students are to stay HOME if:
-If your student does not feel well, keep them home.
-If your student has any COVID-like symptoms, keep them home.
Home tests or antigen tests are now accepted
-Thank you for keeping our school community safe.
