Reflection on Digital Storytelling

I enjoyed the structure of the class with the loose open-ended guidelines and the pacing of the course. The flexibility to choose the topic, as well as the choice of the digital tool, was beneficial. Although it was intimidating at times to post everything publically I appreciated the opportunity to learn from others by viewing their projects. The course exposed me to many digital tools and changed the way that I view media. I find myself watching videos and viewing media through a whole new lens. The use of Slack, Hypothesis, and the class website made for an easy way to stay informed and up to date on the course requirements and the expectations.

I love the Weekly Things for a couple of reasons. I liked that they were low stakes and that there was a variety of tasks throughout the course. They helped bring us together as a cohort and often brought a source of comic relief. They often asked us to reflect, which I found to be a useful practice especially at a time when demands were high and circumstances overwhelming. It provided an opportunity to pause, focus on the little things, and reflect with gratitude.

I would have appreciated more guidance or how-to videos on how to create projects and suggestions for how different projects could be used in the classroom. I felt like I was in a continuous state of being out of my comfort zone but it was in this place that I developed the most professionally.
