Updates for the Week of August 22 - 26, 2022

The level of support this community has shown Shadow Hills was out of this world this past week. We have NEVER seen that many families on the first day of school. It was truly incredible to witness all the smiles and excitement around campus. Thank you all for making this past week a soaring success. The Shadow Hills team appreciates you.

This coming week will be opposite week for the Dual Language classes. That means your child will start in the opposite languages class in the morning and end in the original in the afternoon. Below is a list of language partner teachers to help you know where to go.

Thursday, August 25, from 5:00 - 7:00 pm, will be our Back to School Night for parents. Please leave your children at home. The Spanish teachers will be speaking English and cannot in front of their students. We ask everyone to meet in the auditorium at 5:00 pm for a quick update from me and the PTA.

This Wednesday, August 24, will be our first early dismissal at 2:02 pm. Please let whoever is picking up your child know of the time change. All dismissal procedures stay the same; just the time is adjusted.

If your child needs a Chromebook, please come to the Shadow Hills library at 2:30 pm on Wednesday, August 24. You will complete your School Cafe account, fill out the insurance paperwork (only Venmo and check are accepted), and check out a Chromebook. Please give yourself about 30 minutes to complete this process.

Chromebooks

Chromebooks - Each student will be given a Chromebook to start the school year. Chromebooks will be taken to and from school on a daily basis. Students need to make sure that they charge their Chromebook every night to be prepared for school the following day.
Chromebook Pick Up - If you did not pick up a Chromebook before the start of school, we will be passing out Chromebooks after school on Wednesday, August 24, from 2:30 - 3:30 pm.
Chromebook Insurance Form and Agreement - Please click here for the 2022-2023 Chromebook Protection Plan and Guidelines. Each student must have one of these forms filled out and signed before receiving a Chromebook to take home.

School Cafe Account

Don't forget to sign up for your School Cafe Account! Even if your student does not get lunch on a regular basis, they will need a School Cafe Account. Students will be given a personalized number this year to use when they get lunch. This does not change the fact that breakfast and lunch are free to every student. *Please do this ahead of time. You will be asked to complete it on the Chromebook pick up days.

Water Bottles

Water bottles - It is extremely important that your child brings a water bottle to school DAILY. We do have multiple water bottling filling stations on-site to refill their bottles.
