On Monday, April 4, the District will present final budget proposals to the Board of Education for their consideration. We believe that this budget not only sustains, but expands the resources dedicated to the important work of recovering from COVID-19 and addressing the social & emotional needs of our school community.
With energy prices at record levels, we are also proposing a multi-year project to improve the energy efficiency of our buildings. Our budget proposals stretch the district's financial resources and still rely heavily on our fund balance to support programming. Fortunately, we have been able to use Coronavirus Response & Relief Supplemental Appropriation (CRRSA) and American Rescue Plan (ARP) funds to cover the cost of many critical expenditures.
Our final tax cap calculation allows for an increase in the tax levy of 3.37% and the District plans to stay within the tax cap, which is a challenge because inflation has resulted in higher-than-expected growth in expenditures. Subject to the Board's approval, over the next few weeks District administrators will be presenting the budget to employees and the community.
