Log College Music Department Earns a Grant
Log College Middle School's music department was the recipient of a $1,000 grant from the Peter R. Marsh Foundation. This Middle School Music Grant Program supports the efforts of teachers in leading their students to a life of behavioral kindness and emotional wellness, by nurturing empathy and compassion through community service, and an inspiration to become more accomplished musicians. Log College musicians, directed by Ms. Gina Lenox and Ms. Cara Tyson, have been serving their community through performance, most recently at the Ben Wilson Senior Center and the Masonic Village nursing home.
Students of the Month
Log College Wrestling
The Log Wrestling team finished its season Wednesday night losing a tough battle against Klinger. The night was marked by great performances by the entire team! Nate G. won 1st Place in the heavyweight division. Dom M also won 1st Place, while Ayden H. finished 4th. It was an awesome season and your coaches are so proud of your growth and commitment!
Log College Celebrates Black History Month
Black History Month is an annual celebration of achievements by black Americans and a time for recognizing the central role of African Americans in U.S. history. Since 1976, every U.S. president has officially designated the month of February as Black History Month.
Log College students will participate in the following activities that celebrate the lives and culture of African Americans past and present.
Students will create a mural displaying the achievements of 5 African Americans who set precedents in their respected fields.
Students will identify famous African Americans and create BioBanners recognizing the positive contributions towards society
Students will analyze several samples of African American Culture and reflect how it impacts society today.
Students will identify contributions of African Americans through announcements and posters hung throughout the school.
American History classes will continue to discuss how slavery has shaped our society.
Winter Sports
Dear Log College Families,
Winter Sports season is quickly approaching here at Log College. The Winter sports season runs from November through February and features four sports open to our 7th and 8th-grade students. Log College will be offering Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, Wrestling, and Cheerleading. We are pleased to announce that, for the first time (if enough students try out), we will have Junior Varsity (JV) teams for both boys and girls basketball, providing more students with the opportunity to participate in winter sports. It's important to note that these are not exclusively 7th or 8th-grade teams but are composed of a mix of both grades.
If your child is planning to participate in any of these sports, he/she must have a physical. No student may play or practice until a physical has been received.
PIAA sports physical -
All students must have a completed PIAA physical (dated after June 1, 2023). The physical forms can be downloaded from the link - PIAA Physical Form - Updated 3/22/23 (or you can pick one up from Mr. Corey, our athletic director or any LCMS coaches).
If you have already played a sport in the Fall, you do not need to complete a new physical, but you must re-submit section 7 (Re-certification by parent/guardian) from the PIAA physical form. This page does not require seeing a doctor or medical provider.
If you did not submit a PIAA physical in the Fall, you must complete Sections 1 to 5 within the PIAA sports physical packet. This must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Section 6 must be completed by an authorized medical examiner (family doctor, urgent care, minute clinic). You can ignore pages 7-8.
If you cannot find an appointment time with your doctor, you may use another provider or visit a CVS Minute Clinic or visit an Urgent Care center. The Centennial School District has a partnership with Liberty Urgent Care:
If you use any of the following Liberty Urgent Care centers and mention Centennial SD, your physical will only cost $20. (Locations listed below)
