Principal's Message
Happy Friday Cougar Families!
The first week of the second quarter is complete. A new quarter represents a new beginning and an opportunity to start fresh.
Don’t Forget to VOTE!
Monday is the LAST day to submit your ballot. Please deliver in person by 3:30 PM on Monday to ensure that your ballot is included in the count.
I would like to thank (in alpha order) Nicole Hall, Jerry Lancaster, and Susanna Valencia Martin for their interest in contributing to our community through school governance. Operating as an independent charter school is a major responsibility to our community of families and all three are deserving of our consideration. The responsibility of the community is to use their voice through the voting process.

Upcoming Lockdown Drill
Next week on Wednesday, October 25th, at 12:53pm, SCHS will be partnering with law enforcement to conduct a lockdown drill. Lockdown drills give the students and staff a chance to practice the steps we would take to maintain a heightened state of readiness in case of a potential threat. Please discuss with your student ahead of time - this drill is unique and will occur during Nutrition Break. Through our SCTV broadcast, we are preparing our students to report to their classrooms before the final bell to end Nutrition Break - so they will be in proximity of their next class. During this drill, traffic onto campus will be stopped. This is only a drill, and we will resume teaching and learning immediately following the drill. Thank you for your help with this matter.
School Site Council is in Need of 2 Parent Volunteers!
Our Steele Canyon School Site Council is a 12-person committee made up of teachers, students, parents and the principal. Without 2 parents serving on the committee, we are unable to hold official meetings. This committee votes on how to spend our federal funds for the Title I program - we fund academic support programs, our school social worker and library tech, cover the cost of field trips, and many other activities for our SCHS students. The committee meets on the third Tuesday of each month at 3:45pm (Next meeting will be on 11/28/23). Please click HERE to learn more and submit your name for candidacy. For more information, please email Ms. Hernandez at ephernandez@schscougars.org
