Standing Up For Yourself!
Eighth-grade ELA students learned the true meaning of standing up for themselves after they read Fahrenheit 451. To supplement what they learned in the book, students visited the Learning Commons where they participated in a variety of station activities including listening to a popular pop song and brainstorming related ideas on the interactive tables, decoding a famous historical speech, and watching an inspirational slide show on the large TV. Students were exposed to various forms of informational text, made connections to the past, and had their thinking changed in the process.
