- BMS families who were not able to attend conferences last week: please watch your mail for your student's Forward and Fall Map scores.
- If your student had their picture taken on our alternate picture date, November 1st, please be advised that your student will be bringing home a proof of their recently taken picture with order instructions. These will be sent home in approximately two weeks. Happy ordering!

Families in Need
Our Families in Need program is designed to help out families in our district who are having difficulty meeting the immediate needs of their children. We are thankful for the Loaves and Fishes Food Pantry for fulfilling food and toys for our families in need within our community.
Though we intend to help as many families as possible, we ask that you follow the following guidelines:
-We are only able to serve children up through 8th grade --which includes infants and toddlers
-We ask that all school aged children that clothing is being requested for must attend either Brookwood Elementary or Middle School
If you would like to sign your child up for this program, please fill out the following form: https://tinyurl.com/ykh42prf
**All personal information that is submitted into the form will be kept confidential**
If you are interested in donating monetarily or adopting a child or family, please fill out this form: https://tinyurl.com/ms3y8eb3
Thank you to our community members for helping us fulfill this need within our community.
If you have any additional questions, please contact: Helen Xiong at Helen.Xiong@gcj2.k12.wi.us
BFO Holiday Shop: Help Needed
Boxtops
We need your help to get more families to support the Box Tops program. The more people that participate, the more our school can earn to help get the supplies it needs!
PLUS, you can earn a bonus for our school by inviting your friends, family, and other parents to sign up and participate in Box Tops.
To refer friends to sign up, go to the Invite Friends section of the Box Tops app. (You can get there by tapping on the person icon in the upper-right corner of the app home screen.) You'll get a referral code that you can send to a friend. You'll BOTH earn Bonus Box Tops for our school when they scan their first receipt — that's extra cash that counts towards our Box Tops earnings goal of $1,000 this year.
Thanks for your help!
Email the BFO at brookwoodfamily19@gmail.com with any questions regarding box tops.

FROM THE CLASSROOM...
What's Happening in Mr. Granahan's Class?
Students in Mr. Granahan's 3D Printing class are engaging in the "Farthest Flying Disc Challenge." For this 3D printing project, students research the aerodynamics of flying discs to design a disc that can fly the greatest distance. There are a few factors that affect the flight distance of the flying discs. The first is the shape of the edge, top, and underside of the disc. Another factor affecting the flight distance is the weight of the disc and the distribution of the weight. Finally, students need to consider the throwing angle of the disc. Once their research is complete, students then create a 3D version of their disc design using an online CAD program. That design is then exported and printed on a 3D printer. You can see a variety of disc styles and sizes. Finally, it is time to launch the discs. A mechanical launcher is used so every student has consistent launching of their disc, and it is the design of the disc that determines how far it will fly. This year we had a few discs fly over 200 feet!
From the Athletic Director...
Next week the Mustangs have two home games! We are playing Wheatland on Tuesday and Union Grove on Thursday. Come out and support your Mustangs!
Boys in 6th-8th grades: start warming up now! We’re about a month away from the start of boys’ basketball season. Please make sure you have a concussion form on file if you plan to play.
If you placed a spiritwear order, I should receive them before Thanksgiving break and will send them home with your student.
Go Mustangs!

Academic Lab at BMS
Students will begin their study time with one of their teachers, right after school in that teacher’s classroom.
At 3:20pm, students will then report to the Academic Lab in the library. A team of Academic Lab teachers will continue to help students in working on the tasks of focus, as assigned by their teacher.
Academic Lab teachers will also assist students with putting any unfinished assignments needing to be completed into their assignment notebooks, so that families are in the loop of tasks that still need attention at home.
Academic Lab will end at 4:25pm. Students will not be allowed to leave early unless a parent needs to pick them up sooner.
The Late Bus will continue to be offered as afternoon transportation home from the Academic Lab, and will depart promptly at 4:30pm. (Note: The Late Bus will also still be available on Tuesdays for students in athletics).
Families: We need your help in giving our students the attention they need and deserve. We hope that you will take full advantage of this resource when your student is in need of additional support.
