Internet Safety and Cyberbullying Initiative
LISD is launching Digital Awareness Week October 16-20. During this week 5 new badge challenges (Digital Citizenship, Hyperdocs, EdPuzzle video/questions, HyperDoc gameboard, and Smore) will be available for you to complete. If you're not familiar with digital badges, make sure you read about them below. In a day and age when our lives are practically rampant with technology, educating our population on proper usage is essential. Cyberbullying becomes easier than ever with the increase in social networking sites and apps. Not to mention, there's this thing called a digital footprint that stays on our record for nearly forever. In the words of Nelson Mandela, "Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world." Although, Mr. Mandela was not exactly talking about digital safety here, I think it still holds strong application. If we want to keep our kids safe and stay safe ourselves, then educating them on proper use of technology is the weapon to combat the opposite.
