Coloma Junior High Week of April 24th

Spring into Reading

We are excited to announce that Coloma Junior High will be kicking off Spring into Reading for the month of May. During the month of May, we will be focusing on a One School, One Book.

We are happy to share that our book selection for the 2023 CJH Spring into Reading is “Because of Winn Dixie” by Kate DiCamillo. We will be building in incentives, rewards and activities to continue discussing the book from home.

This story is a classic tale of girl meets dog and how the relationship between them affords her the courage to make new friends and ask her father questions about her mother. In fact, everything that happens over the course of the summer is, because of Winn Dixie.

We encourage families to join in this event by discussing the text with your student. The Junior High will be providing discussion prompts and other activities for home.

Should you wish to opt out of this activity and your student to not receive a book, please send in the form on the back before Friday, April 28th.

Testing Reward

We encouraged our students to come prepared for testing and to work hard on their state tests this past week. Students that demonstrated these behaviors were reward with extra time outside and a snack provided by Chartwells. Nice work Comets!!!

7th Grade is about to embark on one of their most popular books of the year as they begin to read, "The Outsiders". This is a coming of age book that resonates with our students as the read about Ponyboy and his friendships as they navigate being on the outskirts of regular society.
