December 2022 Issue 1
Message from Head of School, Matt McCrea
Dear Families,
Welcome to December! In addition to the cold weather and the holiday season, December is also the beginning of the second trimester of the year for us at Meridian. We always encourage all of our students to reflect on how they did, but now is a good time to review grades, check in again with teachers, and look for ways to improve so that our second trimester is even better than our first.
As we come up to the holidays, we want to continue to support all of our families with anything that's needed at home. If there's some way that we can support you, please don't hesitate to let us know by reaching out to your child's teacher or to our family engagement team.
Have a wonderful week!

Holiday Food Drive Hosted by 7th Grade
The 7th grade is hosting a school-wide food drive between Dec 6th - 16th with items collected going to the Capital Area Food Bank. We thought it might be fun to have a friendly competition between the grades and homerooms! See below for more details!
A container to collect items will be housed in a core content class for each grade (Ms. Furst for 6th, Ms. Wojcik for 7th, and Ms. Schneid for 8th). Students who bring items will come and deposit them in that class, where the teacher will document how many items they have brought and the homeroom they belong in. If you have any questions, please reach out to Ms. Briana Wojcik at bwojcik@meridian-dc.org.
Middle School Lost and Found Collection
Our Lost and Found has been filling up for some time now. We will have the items available for parent pick-up on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 3:00 pm to 4:30 pm in the Middle School's main hallway.

December Reading Challenge
Thank you to our Fall Event Sponsors!
We are so thankful this holiday season to our neighbors at Walker Memorial Baptist Church and the YMCA Anthony Bowen for their support of our students and families. Generous donations from both organizations made it possible for more than 75 students and families at our Elementary and Middle school campuses to receive Turkeys, grains, and vegetables, all in time for the Thanksgiving holiday.
Also, a big thank you to A & H Automotive located in Silver Spring, MD for providing gift cards for our Fall Harvest Dinner raffles!
Cash App Notice
This message is to reinforce that Meridian PCS does not charge families through Cash App. If you are asked to make a payment or have made a payment, please contact your school administrator.
