Chula Vista High School - Home of Champions!
Week 6 August 22nd to August 28th
Message from the Principal
Hello Spartans,
I hope you all had a great weekend. As we kick off our sixth week of school, I would like to thank our teachers and staff for helping to make our Senior Sunrise and No-Backpack Day activities a huge success.
Special thanks to our Senior Class advisor Ms. Candelario and our Senior Class Officers for organizing an amazing Senior Sunrise event on Friday. It was great to see so many of our seniors up early to watch the sunrise together, make great memories and enjoy some pancakes.
Also, a huge thanks to our ASB Assistant Principal Ms. Petersen, our ASB students, Pep Club, SCPA and all of our amazing teachers and staff for helping coordinate our No-Backpack Day. It kicked off with an all-school assembly, followed by the Spartan Race, Spartan Values presentation and our special guest speaker @jaredscottlive. It was an amazing day full of fun activities, bonding and learning about being a Spartan!
Have a great week!
Go Spartans!

E-Hall Pass
Chula Vista high school has implemented a new digital hall pass system this month that allows educators and administrators to give hallway permissions to students, and to track activity in school hallways. The digital platform is called e-hallpass and is intended to improve the accountability and security of students and staff. Students will access e-hallpass via their laptop computers or personal device. The students’ requests will include both their planned destination and their wish to leave the classroom. This digital platform will be a consistent format for students wishing to visit the nurse, counselors and the front office. The will also support our attendance goals. Students can download the App through the Apple App Store. To watch a video on how it works, click HERE.
Alternative Household Income Survey
Dear SUHD Parents,
You've been invited to participate in a very important survey that will impact your child's school funding and support services next year. A school's State and Federal funding is based on the number of eligible Alternative Household Income forms that are submitted each year. This determines how much funding your child's school will receive the following year, which allows for implementation of academic support programs and resources to support student academic success.
Resources and benefits for your child include:
Academic supports: tutoring and intervention programs after school and Saturdays
Classroom supplies and instructional materials
Classroom technology equipment and instructional software
High Schools:
Waivers for high school college admission exams
Fee-reduced high school exams (AP and IB exams)
Fee-reduced college applications
This survey will include the following two questions and a required E-signature:
Number of people living in the home?
Total Monthly Income?
To access this survey log onto your district's Infinite Campus Parent Portal at Https://campusportal.sweetwaterschools.org and select the survey link in your inbox.
This survey will be accepting responses from 07/01/2022 until 06/30/2023.
Student Drop-off and Gate Locations
Gates will be open for students to enter campus at 8:00am. We will have four entry points with designated drop off areas for students. Those are marked on the map with a blue arrow:
#1 North 100, drop off point is the driveway in the front of the 100 building.
#2 South 100, drop off point is the parking lot in front of the GYM.
#3 Youth Center, drop off point is the Youth Center parking lot on L street.
#4 K Street Gate, drop off point is on K street.
These areas will also serve as pick up points for students after school. For the safety of all, please make sure you observe all traffic patterns and rules.
We ask that you not drive into the staff parking lot on K street to drop off your student. This creates a traffic jam with our faculty and staff vehicles as well as with our school buses.
SUHSD COVID Protocols
Please make sure you also familiarize yourself with our COVID protocols:
- When indoors vaccinated staff and all students are strongly recommended to wear a face mask.
- Unvaccinated staff and adult visitors must wear masks when in the presence of others indoors.
- In classrooms with immunocompromise staff or students, we are asking the classroom communities to please support each other by wearing masks when indoors.
An exception where staff or students will be required to wear masks at this point is after they are returning to school following exposure to COVID. These additional protocols are our best way to ensure we can keep our students and staff on campus and engaged in learning this school year.
