PRMS Update

We will be beginning a new summative state test this spring called the ATLAS test. I think it is important that parents understand this new testing system and how we are preparing our students for it. Our teachers will be continuing to prepare our students for mastery of our state standards through using our highly effective curriculum. They will also be preparing them on the new testing platform and technology tools offered by using practice test tools on the standards they will be teaching. Another way that they will be preparing them is by taking ATLAS Science Interims twice during this school year. This will be a short practice test with a few questions that is set on the new platform and questions in the same format of the summative. We will take our first science interim this next week on the morning of November 29th. It is very important that your student is present for this for preparation of our summative test. This will not be taken for a grade though or give us any individual data for your student. As we move throughout the rest of the year and get closer to the spring testing dates I will be updating you all on more of the details.

We are going to have our first annual Jingle Bell Rock Bash. This will be a fun event with dancing and games. Attire will be tacky sweater and prizes will be given out for the best tacky sweaters. The event will happen right after school. We will start selling tickets December 4th before school. Tickets must be bought by the morning of December 8th. Students must buy a ticket to be able to stay for the event. Parents will pick up students at 5:30 when the event ends. We will also have concessions and jingle bell necklaces for sale at the event.

Our teachers work so hard over the school year to support and grow our students. We like to celebrate them during this holiday season. We have some fun activities and goodies for them planned, but have one game that we would like to ask your support. We would like to have some small treats for them to choose from during our "Find the Snowman" game. These could be things like $5-$10 gift cards, candy treats, holiday decorations, ornaments, office supplies, etc. If you have any connections for these type of items like these or would like to donate please email me at rallen@pearidgek12.com or drop off in the school office by December 8th.

We will be having another Blackhawk Spirit Day on December 21st. This will be another day full of house meetings, assembly, career event, clubs, and finishing with a house party. Students can dress up in their house colors and go all out in house color spirit gear. Remember the only thing they can not have is paint on their body during this day. We will have an assembly that parents are welcome to attend to join in on the fun starting at 8:45 on this day.

Our Middle School Select Choir will be putting on a holiday performance. The concert will begin at 6:00pm at the High School Performing Arts Center. If your student is a performer in the concert they will need to arrive by 5:30.

• Students can not get out of cars and come to the porch until a staff member is on duty at 7:30 each morning. Please do not let students out or allow them to walk to the school before this time for their safety.
• Students are not allowed to have anything but water in water bottles in the classroom. Any other types of drinks must be drank in the cafeteria during breakfast or lunch.
