Ten Thank You Letters
Kids often feel like what they have isn't as good as what their friends have. Little Critter feels this way until his grandmother shows him how to appreciate the things he has instead of wishing for more.
Thankful
Two children dress up as adults and express their thanks for things like light, color, plants, and rhyming words. This charming book encourages kids to be thankful for even the smallest blessings.
Thanks a Million
With 16 poems on thankfulness, kids will learn how it feels to be thankful and how to express gratitude to others. This is a great reminder of how meaningful a simple "thank you" can be.
Resources for Teachers on Tolerance
November has been a roller coaster ride for students. How can teachers help them? My colleague, Amy Baker-Sheridan, posted this link that includes some resources.
What to Say to Kids in November 2016- from Teaching Tolerance
As your Literacy Specialist, Diane, I'm grateful to you for
- Your devotion to your students.
- Showing up every day and working hard.
- Going full throttle to help improve lessons and understanding.
- Striving to be part of the solution.
- Being derailed from time to time but persevering.
- Your willingness to learn and to grow.
Teaching Kids Gratitude
I've had some experience here with my three sons who are all grown up now but still they stop to write a note or text to thank those that help them along the way.
One of the greatest gifts you can give your students is an opportunity to be grateful. It's an attitude that will serve them well toward in this ever changing the world.
