LCHS Teacher Selected as Region 17 Teacher of the Year
Congratulations to LCHS teacher, Brittany Wright, for being selected as the Region 17 Secondary Teacher of the Year. Mrs. Wright teaches Real Estate, Fashion Marketing & Merchandising, Social Media Management & Advertising, and Virtual Business & Sports Marketing. Mrs. Wright was chosen as 2019 Secondary Innovator of the Year for Lubbock-Cooper, and has been the recipient of nearly $6,000 in grant money from the LCEF. LCHS is proud of Mrs. Wright, and her commitment to innovation in the classroom!

CTE Spotlight - Computer Maintenance
Students in Mr. Hamlin's Computer Maintenance classes are learning how to maintain and repair computer systems. They learn various topics from computer hardware to computer security, preparing students for the responsibilities of a PC technician.
Teacher on the Rise Nominations
Mrs Baird's Bread and United Supermarkets have announced the return of the Teachers On The Rise program for the 2022-23 school year.
This student/family nominated program honors three local teachers every month. Teachers have such a tremendous impact on students every day, and these are the stories Mrs. Baird's wants to hear about!

Student Activities Conference - Oct. 1
Texas Tech is hosting a Student Activities Conference on October 1, 2022. It is a conference that will introduce the events to students as well as give helpful hints to be successful! It should start at 9:00 AM and finish by 1:30 PM. The schedule should be out soon, but students are not required to stay the whole day. Students and coaches can go to as many of the sessions as they would like.
Theatre, speech events, robotics, filmmaking, and UIL academic competitions will be discussed.
- Instructional Sessions are designed for beginning students, advanced students, coaches and academic coordinators. Lectures and demonstrations will be scheduled for all UIL academic contest areas.
- Conferences feature lectures and presentations by UIL contest directors, college professors and high school teachers. Sessions will include discussions on contest preparation, demonstrations, performances and contest administration. Students may choose from novice and advanced sessions in some academic areas and small-group sessions in specific UIL activities.
- Most sessions are intended to help students begin preparing for high school spring contests. Sessions applicable to coaches will also be offered in many contest areas. Mark your calendar and plan to attend one or more of these free conferences.

Student Poll Workers needed for the Upcoming November Election
The Lubbock County Elections Department would like to invite students of Lubbock-Cooper High ISD to participate in the Student Election Program. This wonderful opportunity will allow students to experience a hands-on introduction to the voting process while also earning an hourly wage of $9-11. We are looking at a training date for all students to be on Saturday, October 22nd (time TBD). Attached below are a few items for the Student Election Program.
How to Report a Student Absence
What if the absence is COVID related?
After submitting an absence in Skyward and indicating that it is Covid related in the comments box, you will receive an email with a Google Form link. Parents must fill out the Google Form and supply evidence of the Covid related absence to ensure that the absence will not count against semester exam exemptions.
