Message from Mrs. Perez & CKH November Newsletter
Hello, Tiger Families!
With the arrival of fall, our lost and found on campus is filling up with jackets and hoodies. Please remind your students to check lost and found if they are missing any items. We clean this area up every nine weeks, so encourage your child to take a look if they have lost their jackets or hoodies.
Additionally, you should have received a letter detailing some changes in our Math classes. We have transitioned to Carnegie Learning’s Texas Math Solution, a curriculum that blends science-backed insights into learning with practical applications to math instruction. The Math Solution includes a consumable textbook and MATHia software, both designed to accommodate diverse learning styles and strategies. Our aim with Carnegie Learning Math Solution is to offer our students the opportunities they need to succeed by learning through hands-on experiences.
This month, our CKH families are focusing on the value of teamwork. While some students participate in teams both in and out of school, our classes themselves can also function as cohesive teams. Within their classes, students collaborate with others to achieve shared objectives. To cultivate effective teamwork, it is crucial to cultivate skills such as active listening, supporting peers, and appreciating the diverse talents and abilities that each member brings. Teamwork enhances both verbal and non-verbal communication, fosters interpersonal understanding, and celebrates differences. Your child has already begun honing these skills in their classes by establishing a Social Contract at the start of the year. Through collaborative efforts, the class outlined expectations and set standards for behavior that every member is expected to uphold. Teamwork also nurtures a culture of encouragement and affirmation, strengthens team bonds, and fosters trust, thereby creating a positive environment. Ultimately, teamwork accountability among all members for shaping the class culture. The newsletter for this month has some great information and activities for you to practice with your student. We are BETTER TOGETHER!

A Note from our Nurse
As we begin November, let’s take a few minutes to review ways to stay healthy. Flu season is typically November through Spring. Here are a few helpful tips that will help you stay healthy during flu season.
Encourage proper hand washing
Teach effective coughing and sneezing
Get vaccinated
Keep children home if they have had fever, nausea, vomiting or diarrhea. Students must be symptom free for 24 hours without medication before coming to school
Consult healthcare provider when flu-like symptoms begin
Please do not share food or drinks
Our goal at BRMS is to keep every student safe and healthy. If you have any questions or concerns please do not hesitate to call our nurse with any questions. We will work together to enforce healthy habits to reduce the spread of illness.
Please save your empty milk or tea gallons
In art we are working on a gallery for our elective showcase and are in need of some donations. Please send your empty milk, water or tea gallons to the front office so we can make creative art work with them.
Veterans Day Program
We are excited to extend a warm invitation to area veterans and community members for our upcoming Veteran's Day program. Join us on November 9, 2023, for a school-wide assembly where we will commemorate Veterans Day. This event will be an opportunity to honor the family members of Blue Ridge ISD students, faculty, and staff who have dedicated their service to our country in the Armed Forces
