It's Friday!!
It has been a great week at Three Lakes Middle School! We participated in Celebrate Freedom Week and our students explored our founding documents, honored our nation’s ideals and beliefs of freedom, and celebrated patriotism. We will also spent time recognizing the historical leaders of the past and honored the sacrifices of our armed forces, both past and present.
Additionally, we started the week off with an amazing outdoor band concert, which was an absolute blast! Tuesday, our orchestra students had their end of the year concert. Thursday, we celebrated our 8th graders with an 8th grade breakfast sponsored by our amazing PTA! Thursday evening came to a close with our 8th grade awards ceremony. Tonight, we will celebrate as the Tyler Legacy High School Class of 2021 graduates at Rose Stadium.
It's been an amazingly different school year, but WE did it! I am so proud of our Gators for the work they've done in a school year that will definitely go down in the history books! Thank you, parents, for your support and understanding this school year as we navigated unchartered territories...Thank you!!!
We look forward to welcoming our incoming 6th graders next year and will definitely miss our 8th grade class as they transition to the 9th grade. We will always be here to support them in any way possible!
**The last day of school will be Wednesday, May 26 and the students will be released at 12:30 p.m. Please be sure your child has transportation at that time.
Have a great weekend!

Tyler ISD seeks input for ESSER III funding use
Tyler ISD family,
We would like to hear from you! Tyler ISD is seeking input on the usage of its share of the Elementary and Secondary Emergency Relief (ESSER) III Formula Funds. The $11.2 billion available to the State of Texas is part of the American Rescue Plan (ARP) enacted by Congress to address the impact that COVID-19 has had and continues to have on schools.
Tyler ISD’s share of the formula funds is $44,868,908. The Texas Education Agency is only releasing two-thirds of the entitlements at this time, making the amount currently available to Tyler ISD $29,912,605.
To comply with ESSER III guidelines, stakeholders, including Tyler ISD employees, can provide input on how the District should utilize its share of the funds. A portion of the funds is to be used in the areas of learning acceleration, summer enrichment, and after-school programming. The survey is available below in English and Spanish. It is also available at tylerisd.org and will be open through Tuesday, June 1.

Attendance
Improving attendance at Three Lakes Middle School is a top priority this school year. There is a direct correlation between student attendance and school success, so encourage your students to attend school and discuss the importance of them being here daily.
Here are some helpful hints to help with attendance:
- Establish and stick to the basic routines (going to bed early, waking up on time, etc.) that will help your child develop the habit of on-time attendance.
- Talk to your child about why going to school every day is critical and important unless they are sick. If your child seems reluctant to go to school, find out why and work with the teacher, counselor, or administrator to get them excited about going to school.
- Come up with back up plans for who to turn to (another family member, a neighbor or fellow parents) to help you get your child to school if something comes up (e.g. another child gets sick, your car breaks down, etc.).
- Reach out for help if you are experiencing tough times (e.g. transportation, unstable housing, loss of a job, health problems) that make it difficult to get your child to school. Other parents, your child’s teacher, principal, social worker, school nurse, counselor, or community agencies can help you problem solve or connect you to a needed resource.
- If your child is absent, work with the teacher to make sure she or he has an opportunity to learn and make up for the academics missed.
